Something is wrong with Barack Obama. We all know it. We all see it. When he speaks about America, Americans cringe. There is a strangeness to his manner, an unease when he talks about America. He appears awkward and uncomfortable. His speech seems performed and practiced yet, oddly halting. It's reminiscent of American POW's in Vietnam or Iraq reading a forced confession. His eyes, expressions, and vocal tone are disconnected from his words. The words themselves often sound American, but the delivery is clinical and detached. His attempts at patriotic sentiment ring hollow and phony. "Once again, with feeling!" is how Americans are left feeling. He just doesn't seem right. He doesn't seem like, well...one of us.
Before anyone "goes there" and makes accusations of racism, this is about a pervasive, nagging, national perception that Barack Obama does not intuitively understand or appreciate America or Americans. Not our past. Not our present or future. He just doesn't act or sound like an American. In fact, there are good reasons and ample evidence for why.
For many of us, "being an American" was a normal part of our collective upbringing. We learned it in school. We said the Pledge of Allegiance every morning right alongside our teachers. Even in liberal Southern California the day began with the Pledge often followed by singing "God Bless America" or "America the Beautiful."

We can think back with pride to decades of hard work toward our strategic goal of a big enough, broad enough and united enough labor and all-people’s movement that could overcome the ultra-right blockage to all progress. That all people’s movement has come to life, it is dynamic and it has the potential to keep growing.
The election of Barack Obama and a strengthened Congress creates new conditions in our country. There is now the possibility to shift gears and move forward. This new day requires us to further develop our tactics in order to continue to deepen and broaden labor and people’s unity.
There are thousands of experiences that we all have had in these momentous days, some large, some small, all of which express the enormity of change in thinking and readiness for involvement that is underway and that steels us for the battles ahead.
The tears of joy we all shared as crowds gathered to watch the election results here and throughout the world dramatize the new moment we are in.

Change is Here, Change is Coming

Let me begin with a simple observation: If the last 30 years were an era of reaction, then the coming decade could turn into an era of reform, even radical reform. Six months into the Obama presidency, I would say without hesitation that the landscape, atmosphere, conversation, and agenda have strikingly changed compared to the previous eight years.
In this legislative session, we can envision winning a Medicare-like public option and then going further in the years ahead.
We can visualize passing tough regulatory reforms on the financial industry, which brought the economy to ruin.
We can imagine the troops coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan while U.S. representatives participate in a regional process that brings peace and stability to the entire region.
In the current political climate, the expansion of union rights becomes a real possibility.
Much the same can be said about winning a second stimulus bill, and we sure need one, given the still-rising rate, and likely long term persistence, of unemployment.
Isn’t it possible in the Obama era to create millions of green jobs in manufacturing and other sectors of the economy in tandem with an attack on global warming?
Can’t we envision taking new strides in the long journey for racial and gender equality in this new era, marked at its beginning by the election of the first African American to the presidency?
And isn’t the overhaul of the criminal justice and prison system – a system steeped in racism – no longer pie-in-the sky, but something that can be done in the foreseeable future?
All these things are within reach now!

His ancestry is Kenyan Mohammedan.
Not African American.
That makes him more likely the descendent of slave traders than of slaves.

And the American Democratic Party USA wants ALL Americans “of color” to return to their political plantation. Those who refuse will be hunted down and lynched in the high tech lynchings as seen with regard to Justice Clarence Thomas,
Re. Allen West. etc.

I suspect we're right now close to the classic thirdsies divide.
1/3 cringe, 1/3 are more or less unconcerned, 1/3 still think he is great and are thrilled when he speaks.
He is the son of soulless slavers, not the son of soulful slaves.
He is NOT one of us. At the age when boys become imbued with their American heritage, he was going to school in Indonesia, living with a moslem father and an agnostic or atheist mother.
I believe it is best for us to keep the criticism in a constitutional setting.
a. The Constitution orders the president to take good care that the laws be faithfully executed.
b. President Obama swore to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.
c. He says that the immigration laws should be reformed, not enforced.
d. The Constitution guarantees that the Federal Government will protect the States from invasion.
President Obama should be impeached for his transgressions.
The title Un-American American President fits that description too. The first word is a perfect match to the druggie in our White House, the second word is an exact opposite, and the third word is applied by some people mainly because Obama more or less goes through the motions of some actions associated with the formerly distinguished title for which our community organizer is both unqualified and ineligible.
He is not one of us and neither are the people who sent him and set him up in business at the White House. They are the Ruling Class (I call them the Parasite Class) and they DO NOT WANT TO BE LIKE US OR WITH US.
An interesting graphic I remember from the 2008 election- From polling data, 20% of Conservatives voted for him (normally conservatives vote 1-3% Democrat). Some of that may have been skewed, but I truly believe many Conservatives believed him when he said he wanted to use the best ideas of both sides to forge a moderate coalition. He's not about to get that benefit of a doubt.
All I know is- when Bush was President, unemployment was 4-5%, my family had a 6-figure income, and we were buying gas for $1.60/gallon. Under Obama, we lost our home, we're on Food Stamps, my wife and I are working 2 jobs each, and gas is $3.50 a gallon.
