Obama dives into debt talks

The White House accused Republicans of siding with billionaires and private jet owners, as President Barack Obama waded into political talks designed to avert a "calamitous" US debt default.

Obama met the top Democrat in the Senate and his minority Republican counterpart, seeking to unpick a deadlock over his call on lawmakers to lift the $14.29 trillion debt ceiling by an August 2 deadline.

As political tensions rose, the White House warned of "calamitous" consequences to the global economy if the talks do not seal an agreement and Washington is forced into default and runs out of money to pay its bills.

"It's very important that we don't play chicken here, that we don't test the markets," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.

But Republicans, who quit talks with the White House last week accusing Obama of pushing tax hikes, again demanded big spending cuts in return for agreeing to lift the debt limit.

In the United States, Congress has to agree to lifting the cap on government borrowing, and has done so repeatedly in recent years at the urging of successive Democratic and Republican presidents.

But this time, congressional Republicans elected in a backlash against government, and on a platform of sweeping spending cuts in last November's mid-term polls, are demanding big concessions from the White House.

Private aircraft owners, jet or otherwise, are bad bad guys who do not deserve such.

Meanwhile, Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, and is family never let the engines cool on the aircraft available to the first family.

How many? I really don't know but we do know that there is Air Force One, a backup aircraft. Several helicopters, several that carry Secret Service people and other aircraft to transport equipment.

So bottom line: The ruling class is deserving and we are not.

Other than the giant hypocrisy of this - given that he courts private jet owning donors and gives them exemptions the rest of us don't get - private jets create a living for a lot of people. I should know, we're in that business. On one flight it was noted that the owners were all Democrats and the crew were all Republicans.

For all intents and purposes, obama has the biggest and most expensive "private" jet of all. I mean, he uses it for golf outings, campaign stops, flyover photography, nights on the town in NY, and visiting his "ancestors" in Ireland.

And he's got several other "private" jets used for such things as flying in his favorite party "beef" from overseas, flying in his favorite pizza chef from Chicago, and sending moochie on lavish shopping trips around the planet.

How about, "obama you turn in your private jet and we'll turn in ours.".

At least the corporate "fat cats" buy they own fuel and provisions for their "private jets"...obama uses the taxpayers to pay off his "political favors".

We will not win with obama fighting "big government"...we will only win calling it like it is and fighting obama...period.

The "government" is what he and his liberal minions have made it, it is not OUR government...the American government - guided by our Constitution - has been transformed into some sort of bizzario euro-aisan, marxisit-socialist roll of toilet paper.

By strict and prominent definition, the "government" of the United States of America, is THE PEOPLE. The people in DC are hired to do the paperwork and handle the basic logistics of the fundamental duties of government, and not to be totalitarian dictators claiming our lives and fortunes for their own.

But, if we keep sitting on our haunches, that's what will happen.

The US Justice Department has a fleet of executive jets that dwarfs the entire fleet of Federal Express. Falcon 20's, Falcon 50's, Gulfstreams, Citation II and III, Hawkers, and Lears. Each plane has a dedicated flight crew and flight attendant.

It's good to be a public fatcat.
