You know what? I think the answers probably no. But why let that get in the way of the delicious schadenfreude Im feeling right now over the recent claims by his former personal assistant Fred Seaman and the apparent discomfort it is causing lefties.
-Excerpt-
Over at the leftie Nation, historian Jon Wiener is having a massive sense of humour failure at this outrageous slur on a man probably second only to Che as an icon of international left-wing street credibility.

And BTW, who the F cares what the dudes political beliefs were, he was a melodic genius whose coat tails McCartney and Harrison totally rode on. McCartney - Last great album: Band on the Run, an album of Beatle outtakes. When they first got signed, the best McCartney came up with was “Love me do”. Lennon came up with “Please please me” which shot them to #1.. He also wrote “If I fell” “I should have known better” ‘Do you want to know a secret” “Hard days night” “Happy just to dance with you” “Tell me why” “You can’t do that” on and on all by himself and you can hear the demo tapes on Youtube that proves it. His writing is the ONLY reason they got so much attention. If it was left to Paul they would have been seen as another Gerry and the Pacemakers and faded. Quick: When’s the last Beatle quality song Paul wrote? 1972? Lennon wrote songs of that quality all the way to his death. “Beautiful boy” “Watching the wheels” “Grow old with me” “Mind games” songs McCartney couldnt even conceive of.
Only a small minority of "Boomers" will have been eligible to vote in 1972. It was my first election; I was 24. Only people born before 1951 will have been eligible to vote for Nixon in 1972, and only Boomers born in 1946 and 1947 will have been old enough to vote for him in 1968.
Most of Nixon's voters were, like Lennon, "War Babies" and "Depression Babies", a.k.a. "the Silent Generation".
I voted in 1972. I was 18 (born in 1954). That was the year they lowered the voting age. (Old enough to be drafted? Old enough to vote.)
(I voted for Nixon)
Clarity bump. There were a few of us conservatives on my campus who formed up a Young Americans for Freedom chapter in the year I left. We had star-spangled eyes and knew what American Exceptionalism was worth. Those leftist pukes could spew their Marxist rage all they wanted, but we had their number all the way. We even infilled an SDS chapter that some puke came down from Chicago to form up and shake out a new SDS chapter on our conservative campus with "radicalization" confrontations with the cops. Didn't happen, wonder why? Losers.
The 26th amendment was ratified in July 1971. 18 year olds could vote in the 1972 election.
THIS JUST IN:
The late Gerry Marsden of the world famous Gerry & the Pacemakers, was said to become a Pat Paulsen libertarian shortly before passing.
No word yet on the political inclinations of the late Herman of Herman’s Hermits.
We’ll keep you posted.
So I paid Nixon back and voted American Independent Party that year, after Wallace went down. I was disappointed in Schmitz's post-election interview, when the newsies came around basically to gloat, asking him "why do you think you didn't do very well?" after spending all fall ignoring the hell out of him and his campaign -- and he pointed that out to them very waspishly, which I thought could have been done with more class.
But he was livid at their cynicism, and frankly, across the perspective of years, I realize now that I wouldn't even have seen that interview, if they hadn't succeeded in fleaming that hot reply out of him.
(Remember, that was the election when the newsies 'fessed up to having voted 9:1 for McGovern ..... and then they went out and "got" Nixon, to reprove, rebuke, and repudiate the People.)
Jerks. Dick's only real mistake was taking those clowns as seriously as he did.
hey, he was my favorite Beatle, so no argument from me about his talent & ability.
I was 18 and my vote was more about voting Republican than voting for Nixon. I'd vote for him again, given the same circumstances, but at least it would be an informed vote.
If my memory sme, Lennon pleaded for entrance and citizenship in the USA for personal reasons and one of the biggest was that Mother England was taxing his butt off. John was fine with socialism until started having to pay for it.
It sure didn't work, they voted for Nixon.
