Perry swipes at Washington leadership on California tour
CBS News ^ | June 30, 2011 | AP

Texas Gov. Rick Perry ridiculed Washington leadership Thursday on a whirlwind trip through California, positioning himself as a champion of limited government, states' rights and low taxes as he edges toward a decision on whether to enter the 2012 presidential campaign.

The Republican governor held a string of private meetings and events with members of Congress, conservative activists, CEOs and potential fundraisers who could become part of a national campaign.

Perry, a former Air Force pilot, is the longest-serving governor in Texas history. He opposes abortion rights and is a favorite among social conservatives. He has been touting his record on job growth, but Texas legislators have been slashing spending as the state wrestles with a huge budget gap.

On Wednesday in San Diego, Perry called the federal government "rudderless" and said he sees a lack of courage in Washington.

Several dozen members of Orange County's Republican elite joined him later in Newport Beach, where he spoke about bringing more Hispanics into to the Republican Party and creating jobs.

Good question, but I doubt it.

When the first Republican comes out and calls 0bama a Marxist who is bent on the destruction of America and our way of life, I’ll suppert him/her.

And I’d bet that person wins the presidency if they call it like it really is and don’t give in.

No, didn't have time...

It's OK for you to answer a question with an answer instead of a question.

I guess you didn't like the question huh?

Yeah, the comptroller also raised property taxes two years in a row. Robin Hood is alive and well in Texas. That extra cash should stem the bleeding /sarc.

Too bad he's a also in favor of open-borders.

As proof, I offer his being against AZ1070 and spouting all kinds of blatant open-borders, pro-amnesty crap to politicians while visiting government officials in Mexico.

Strong on the Social Issues and favors Amnesty.

He was a big supporter of GWB's and John McCain's push to provide Amnesty to illegals.

.........................................................

Anyone who doesn’t agree with you on this is aiding in the destruction of America. No wusses in the debates. No playing the msm “boxers or briefs” game. Take the damn message to the people and take the damn country back. Obama will go for a 3rd freaking term mark my words if he ever gets in again. Some are calling Obama out now and I love it. But who will we trust when they get up on the debate stage next to Obama the great messiah? Who? Palin and Bachmann. I really can’t say I trust anyone else to take it to him. Not when the cameras start rolling.

Palin 2012

If you’re not happy with the current crop, Perry won’t make you smile either. He’s not half the Conservative he claims to be, his immigration stance is a Bush/McCain redux, and although he’s Less moderate than McCain, he’s not got the Constitutional fire this country needs. We need a serious Conservative Leader who’ll go about setting this Republic back onto it’s Constitutional moorings.

We need a President who’ll come out with both guns blazing and tell it like it is about Obama’s policies, and his record without mush-mouthed weasel words or spaghetti-spined apologies. Anybody who gets into this races as a Republican, and starts wringing their hands when they hear Obama getting called on the carpet for his failures — that should END their candidacy right then and there.

If the Presidential race were a swordfight, I’m not backing anybody who goes out to be effite and finesse it with the foil, I’m backing the guy who takes up the Claymore with both hands, blood in his eyes, vengeance in his soul, fire in his belly, and starts cleaving Democrat policies in two right and left.

I’m backing the candidate who stacks the leftist political bodies highest fastest, and Perry is NOT that guy.

For whatever reason he has a reputation just like Chris Christie got with conservatives. If Christie gets in, they will choke at his beliefs. Even Ann Coulter drools over him. She just wants someone that will tell someone to go to hell and doesn't back up. Just because he can bitch slap the SEIU and tells teachers to get a real job if they don't like the one they have, almost everything else makes a conservative's skin crawl. Perry is just a hair better.( get it?, I said hair,.. tehe) Perry is pretty good on some things then he comes out with some crap about illegals getting in state tuition, or forcing kids to get cancer vaccinations, or the Texas corridor, or ...........( think 50 more items). We could do worse,.... maybe Romney or Trump or something.

For me, as it sits now, my choices are

1. Palin

2. Bachmann

3. Cain

4. Perry

5. after that, who cares?

Contrary to a couple of dozen Perry bashers here on FR...he has done a great job as Governor...the bashers, much like the gay community are small in number but make a lot of noise!

Rick Perry, the Mosque, and his agreement with Muslims
from The Ismali

Austin, Texas — At the invitation of Texas State Governor Rick Perry, Mawlana Hazar Imam traveled to Austin yesterday to sign an Agreement of Cooperation between the State of Texas and the Ismaili Imamat.

During the visit, Hazar Imam and Governor Perry also held talks at the State Capitol on a range of issues of mutual interest.

Describing the importance of the agreement, Governor Perry explained that “traditional Western education speaks little of the influence of Muslim scientists, scholars, throughout history, and for that matter the cultural treasures that stand today in testament to their wisdom.”
