Michele Bachmann balks at Sarah Palin 'girl power' She is clearly a trailblazer for women, throwing her hat into the highest ring in politics. But while Michele Bachmann became the first female presidential candidate of the 2012 campaign this week, she does not, interestingly enough, view herself as a feminist. Unlike Sarah Palin, who has brandished the feminist moniker and spoken of an emerging conservative feminist identity, Bachmann told me in an interview Tuesday that she wouldnt call herself a feministinstead, she simply described herself as pro-woman and pro-man. When I pressed her on the matter, the Minnesota congresswoman said she sees herself as an empowered American. Bachmann seemed loath to engage in the kind of girl-power rhetoric utilized by Palin and Hillary Clinton, who both invoked the perennialand so far unbreakablepresidential glass ceiling. Said Bachmann: Im a woman comfortable in her own skin. I grew up with three brothers. My parents didnt see us [as] limited [by gender]. I would mow the lawn and take out the trash; I was making my own fishing lures. I went along with everything the boys did. Bachmann is still doing everything the boys do, but as a female candidate she endures indignities that are foreign to your average male pol. Yet she takes it all in stride.
Michele Bachmann says she's not a feminist. In an interview, the sole female GOP candidate for president doesn't talk about girl power the way Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton have.

I think the headline and the lead are an attempt to try to stir up trouble between Palin and Bachmann.
Hey Kristin, what’s it like to date a pervert?
Very misleading headline. The left-wing media is determined to start some sort of Republican “cat fight” between Bachmann and Palin. It’s clear that Palin doesn’t use the term “feminist” like a leftist would, and Bachmann has chosen not to even engage with the term as it is typically used. Makes them more similar than different.
Powers is an idiot. “Girl power” is being a feminist? Tell that the the ASU softball team. I don’t think they’re a bunch of feminazis.
It’s obvious, isn’t it? Bachmann has Palin Derangement Syndrome!
I'm glad no FReepers would be dumb enough to fall for that. (cough)
When Sarah talks about girl power, I think of a couple of my granddaughters who play on their highschool soccer, hockey, and lacrosse teams.
Funny, there's no photos of Kirsten Powers and her old lover Anthony Weiner anywhere on the Internet. I wonder who eliminated that nasty item??
Another Bachmann puff piece by a Democrat pundit. They’re talking her up all they can.
.
Seems like that is material to her on-the-clock talking head opinion.
Yep; they’d love to see Palin & Bachmann mud wrestling and screaming like harridans. - Hillary Clinton is the quintessential FEMINIST. Went to college; rode a powerful and immoral man’s coattails into the halls of power. Then, too, played “poor little me” to Bill’s philandering; and demanded her pound of flesh from the Democrat Party as payment for “standing by her man”. . her DEBAUCHED man.
Governor Palin got where she got the old fashioned way; she earned it. She’s beautiful, smart, and powerful, and conservative, and the Hillary feminists are GREEN with envy and PDS. Sarah made it the way they’re SUPPOSED to make it, and CAN’T. . and she can field dress a moose; unlike Hillary who would go “Ooooh! Icky!”, and starve if it wasn’t skinned, butchered, cooked, and served up on her plate. Same with Moochelle.

Good, this group identity thing grates on my nerves.
....she was a big supporter early on.......but as things unraveled, she went quiet.
I think the trouble began with Rollins a few weeks ago.
Since then, almost NOBODY on FR supports
the PROUD-backstabber and ex-IRS agent Ms. Bachmann
who now supports Ethanol and Romney.
Headline? The whole article just pitts Palin against Bachmann and lies about Palin.
Would you quit spamming Bachmann threads? I could care less if you like her or not, but it’s quite easy to stay off threads about her rather than spamming them isn’t it?
Haha, yes none of that goes on around here. ;-)

Jim Robinson:
We now have conservatives Bachmann and Cain officially in the race fending off RINO Romney; and Palin and Perry could possibly jump in. My hopes are with Palin, but if she decides not to run I could be happy with Bachmann or Cain. Also, if Palin does not run but Perry does, he'd probably suck all the air out of the race. Either way, Palin, Bachmann, Cain or even Perry would all be excellent alternatives to Obama the commie. Anyone but RINO Romney the big government chief architect of CommieCare!
