The Sofitel housekeeper who claims the former IMF boss sexually assaulted her in his room was doing double duty as a prostitute, collecting cash on the side from male guests, The Post has learned.
"There is information . . . of her getting extraordinary tips, if you know what I mean. And it's not for bringing extra f--king towels," a source close to the defense investigation said yesterday.
The woman was allegedly purposely assigned to the Midtown hotel by her union because it knew she would bring in big bucks.
"When you're a chambermaid at Local 6, when you first get to the US, you start at the motels at JFK [Airport]. You don't start at the Sofitel," the source said. "There's a whole squad of people who saw her as an earner."
The woman also had "a lot of her expenses -- hair braiding, salon expenses -- paid for by men not related to her," the source said.
Allegations that she worked as a hotel hooker may explain why Strauss-Kahn insists their encounter was consensual. His defense attorneys refused yesterday to comment on the damning evidence -- or say whether he paid her for sex.
Sources also told The Post Strauss-Kahn's probers uncovered evidence that she was part of a pyramid scheme that targeted immigrants from her native Guinea.
"We have people who have been victimized, who have claimed she ripped them off. Nice working people from her neighborhood," a source said.
The stunning new info surfaced yesterday as the accuser was unmasked as a pathological liar and scam artist by prosecutors whose rape case has unraveled..."

The IMF chief's alleged sex-assault victim lives in a Bronx apartment rented exclusively for adults with HIV or AIDS, The Post has learned.The hotel maid, a West African immigrant, has occupied the fourth-floor High Bridge pad with her 15-year-old daughter since January -- and before that, lived in another Bronx apartment set aside by Harlem Community AIDS United strictly for adults with the virus and their families.
The Post has not been able to ascertain whether the maid, 32, has HIV/AIDS because of medical confidentiality laws.
But the agency rents apartments only for adults with the disease. A Harlem United worker said at least one adult in the household has to be HIV-positive or have AIDS to qualify for one of their units. A healthy adult with a child with HIV or AIDS is not eligible.
"The [current] apartment isn't rented under her name. Harlem [Community AIDS] United places their tenants in our building," explained an employee of the apartment building's property manager, Chaim Gross, of Brooklyn.
The maid had previously lived in another High Bridge apartment rented by Harlem United, a source said. She had moved there with her child in 2008.
According to the agency, it is not uncommon for people with HIV/AIDS to move around.
Her lawyer, Jeffrey Shapiro, and a close family friend said the chambermaid is a widow who lives alone with her daughter. Public records list her as the only adult in the current apartment and the only adult having lived in her previous apartment.
Neighbors also say it was just her and the child in both places.
The Harlem United workers who talked to The Post were not specifically addressing the maid's living situation, only their agency's housing policies. Officials at Harlem United declined to comment because of confidentiality.
The woman has accused France's leading presidential contender of forcing her to perform oral sex on him twice and then trying to rape her as she tried to clean his Sofitel hotel room in Times Square on Saturday.
She told cops that after he sodomized her, she spit out his semen on the floor, a law-enforcement source said. Investigators are running DNA tests on the sample.
According to the federal Centers for Disease Control: "It is possible for either partner to become infected with HIV through performing or receiving oral sex."
Strauss-Kahn's lawyers declined comment last night.
On another note, her last name "Diallo" is the same as the Imman at her mosque...and half of the Muslims at the mosque speak Fulani....that obscure dialect which was the excuse for not translating her Arizona cal sooner....

Yeah, I saw her pictures floating around in blogs and stuff, but nothing in the mainstream media. It is just a big contrast because in the Post story they are featuring a DSK slideshow in the middle of the article, while withholding her name and photo.
They obviously wanted someone else runing the IMF. So they trumped up charges and replaced the guy with a political operative from Chicago...
If she was a prostitute, what happened to her was hardly assault.
And the funny thing, it’s the more conservative press organs that are being played by the defense team, if it is so. Of course those are the ones you would expect to make a stink about reported prostitution in a classy hotel.
Well that depends on whether she was, so to speak, on her clock at that time. Even if prostitution were legal, if she didn’t consent but DSK proceeded anyhow, he would be stealing her services. What a crazy mixed up situation.
Is she “practicing Islam” just for the sake of her family, or is she a sincere believer?
She's from Guinea which of course is/was also French.
I'm sure DSK has stayed at the Sofitel many, many times and was well known....BECAUSE HE IS A WELL KNOWN FRENCHMAN!! He's like a Bubba or a Carter staying at Trump Towers.
Do the housekeepers have access to the actual guest list?
This is not a Motel 6. Room service knows the names and I'm sure she's given a list of the rooms and the name of the occupant. This is an elite clientele.
