Kind of an odd story, in that I wonder what would possess a kid to do something like this.

Still, a child found alive after missing for 9 days is always cause for celebration. We see so many missing child stories that end in heartbreak and tragedy, I thought it would be nice to post one where the kid comes out okay.

Kind of odd is right! 9 days hiding from your mom and dad? Something is not right there.

great news, usually these cases don’t end this way. Now the boy can get some “help”.

For some reason this reminds me of a story. When I was around 5 I had a first cousin named Jack. Jack had four siblings but they were all girls. Jack was a year older than me.

Well I heard my parents talking about that family discovering a rattlesnake under their house. Daddy said they sent Jack under the house to kill the rattler. However Jack got bit but they said he was going to survive.

I was thinking how stupid they were to send Jack under the house. It wasn’t until later in the day, I learned they also had a dog named Jack.

I came from a dysfunctional and abusive home, and ran away myself at his age. These parents might be exceptionally wonderful, but something is really bothering this child. Hopefully this will lead to a lot of good things happening that make this a happy, or happier family.

The article says the boy is 12 years old and it was obvious he had been in and out of that crawl space several times over the nine day period of time.
Of course. He had to come out for water and food from time to time.
He was not in a life threatening situation so it seems.
Kids do crazy things sometimes. This seems to be one of those cases.

I remember moving out when I was a wee one...I made it to the side of the house before realizing that I hadn’t thought it out real well. The suitcase was heavy, too.

My brother did that. He was going to get in trouble. They had the trustee prisoners out looking for him. He was found late that night though.
Nine days, guess he was sneaking in for food.

Second only to the doll episode of Trilogy of Terror. (maybe Don’t be Afraid of the Dark, too)

I usually held out for at least 2 hours when I was upset, until it got dark and the mosquitos came out.

First you are mad. So you don't answer.

Then you are having fun. So you don't answer.

Then the police arrive. Now you are famous! Every kid in school will be talking about this. You will answer in a little while. Everybody will be relieved. You will get lots of attention.

You fall asleep.

Now it is dark and boy are you in big trouble! When they find out that they did all that and you were just playing games they are going to ground you until you are thirty. They will ship you off to military school. The police will arrest you and send you to one of those prison like you have seen in the movies your parents don't let you watch so you watch them at a friend's house. So you don't answer.

And the longer you go without answering the bigger the problem becomes.

I did something similar once when I was a kid. I was going to run away, but then I ended up sneaking back in the house and hiding in the attic for a couple days. I snuck some food up there and lived on cans of coke and salami and cheese sandwiches :)

There's a blast from the past. Karen Black.

Believe it or not, a friend gave me a bunch of old VHS tapes. I'm pretty sure Trilogy of Terror was one of them. Three episodes.

One was the doll with the chain, she poisons a student, and I forget the third. Something about a plane crash I think.

You think they might have brought in some search dogs to sniff him out?
