Hamas Hints at More Kidnappings to Force Shalit Deal

The Hamas-run Al-Risala newspaper reported on its website on Sunday that Palestinian Authority-based terrorist groups may carry out another operation like the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

Abu Ataya, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees, one of the three terrorist organizations which joined together to kidnap Shalit in June 2006, was quoted by the newspaper as saying the PA terror organizations have the ability to carry out a similar operation if they wish.

“Shalit’s kidnapping was not the first nor will it be the last,” he said. “We will return the ball to our court when and where it will be appropriate, and in a way which will surprise everyone and especially the occupation.”

Eradication of an ideology driven by hate would be appropriate for Hamas.... =.=

I just pray that the next time any terrorist kidnaps a Jew that the IDF tells the world to go to hell and destroys the middle east. Problem solved.

This appeasement crap is insane. No other country would tolerate it, nor should they.

Uh...Israel is in the middle of the Middle East. Destroying it might be problematic.

If that were enacted, and all were eliminated, what do you think the consequences would be? How many would be culled? What would the international community think?

Can speak for Cranked, and I’m not trying to be a wize a$$ here but I’d ask if the world’s opinion would matter to you if you were threatened with extinction? Because the Israelis are. Every day the Arab world threatens them, rockets them, threatens to or does kidnap them, suicide bombs them, threatens nuclear war (Iran). One day the Arabs will actually try.

Would you live like that? Would you expect anyone else to? No, you’d fight back, and fighting for one’s very existence is exactly what we’re talking about here.

Europe worried about things like world opinion and pacification of an enemy that wanted to dominate the region... and as a result millions of Jews and others were killed by the Nazis as you know. History can easily repeat.

As to the consequences, I would vastly prefer the Israelis live without the fear of Muslim fanatics over their heads every second of every day and if the world wants to avoid a very ugly war, they better step up and put the blame where it belongs. This appeasement of terrorism makes me think the consequences would be a lot of bluff and bluster because as I said on another thread, Israel is a nuke power and no western nation will go to the mat with them because of it.

As for China and Russia, If Israel guarantees them oil from these areas, resistance/opposition vanishes since that’s all they want anyway. Remember, they each have muzzie terror problems too and they know where it comes from.

China and Russia have plenty of oil of their own, thank you. They want power. They stir up the conflict here in order to keep the Arabs and Muslims coming to them against the west. This has been the case since the Czechoslovakians started running arms to Egypt in the 1950s. If all the international community would do was tsk tsk us, there might be some merit to what you say. But the international community is only selectively ineffective. When they really want something done, they don’t bull@#$# around. Bombing the entire Middle East into a parking lot, while tempting, would be something they would not tolerate, even if it didn’t poison the air and water that we, too, must breath and drink, and even if we here in Israel really have no desire to kill millions, even though those millions do believe in a mendacious, murderous religion that gives monotheism a bad name. It’s a Jooo! thing.

As for the fact that we’re surrounded by people who want us dead, in the past 3.5 thousand years, there’s rarely been a time that that was not the case. You get used to it. The fact that we are so tiny and surrounded by such gigantic nations that want us dead earnestly and truly, and yet for millennia they have consistently failed to annihilate us, and instead done themselves injury, is imho, proof that we are G-d’s chosen people. Those that bless us are blessed. Those that curse us are cursed. You want to annihilate us? OK. Take a number and get in the “cursed” line. Your comeuppance will be with you shortly:-)

Deep down? Some countries would be grateful, secretly of course. I think countries are more worried about Hamas and Hezbollah taking over Israel, because then you have a radial power with a nationwide terrorist camp. With access to airports, shipping lanes.

What in the hell are you talking about? Annihilate you? Where in the name of God did you get that impression? I want Israel safe, sound and terror free! I’m sorry you have a VERY mistaken impression. You could not be any more wrong if you tried. I guess my prior comments sailed completely and utterly over your head.

And BTW, I have spent a good portion of my offline life over the years defending Israel against some very anti-Semitic people just because I happen to greatly respect Israel and Jews alike. But hey, far be it from me to shatter your personal preconceived notions.

Also, that power Russia and China seek are centered around Oil. But hey, believe as you will. Just because they SAY they are in the mideast and Africa for the oil (take Iraq as the prime example after the US did all the heavy lifting) and just because they have made a bunch of deals in the area over Oil, don’t let that confuse the issue.

As for the rest, I’d prefer that muslims didn’t threaten, kidnap, torture and kill your fellow countrymen. And sometimes that takes war, not appeasement.

But you think I’m cursed anyway so what the hell.

This article should refer to the murder of Shalit. I believe he is dead.

If another Israeli is kidnapped in a like manner Israel should go in and get their man if they have to bulldoze every house until they find him.

“Shalit’s kidnapping was not the first nor will it be the last,” he said.”

And this is precisely why Shalit will not be released in any deal nor should he be. Hamas has made it clear they intend to kidnap and hold hostages again.

Either you eradicate your enemies or they will eradicate you regardless of consequences, how many that would be “culled” and despite what the international community would think, period. State interests, as they directly relate to state security and survival, supersede all the above.

The term “you” in the last sentence did not refer to you personally, my friend. Gnomic sense, as if addressing an actual Persian, Greek, Babylonian, Nazi, whoever.

My apologies. That ‘you are cursed’ thing must have had a stronger effect than we realized ;) I reread it this morning and thought I might have misread but was unsure.

Anyway, just to clarify my position further, I do understand that Israel unleashing it’s might on the Muslim aggressors would not be without consequence. Because you are there and I am here you see things in a different way than I can and actually have to experience it daily.

That said, from my perspective ‘on the outside’ I cannot imagine living that way. I have tried to visualize it, and the result of fighting back against it... and every time I do I come to the same conclusion. I would not continue living that way. Sometimes it’s not a matter of you (generally speaking) choosing war, but a matter of war choosing you.

But there is more at stake in this than Israel alone. You are the world’s ‘line in the sand’ for Muslim aggression. If you fall, or are even ‘minimized’, it’s an open door for Islam to take their goal of Dal ar Islam to the rest of the planet. Yes, through terrorism they are doing that now in a more limited respect, but their hatred of Jews and Israel is so great that it, unfortunately for you, takes the pressure off the rest of us...or more accurately, delays it.

You said that you’ve (Jews in general) been living with this for thousands of years and that is true. But why? You have the power, strength and ability to end this definitively. And despite the loud mouth anti-Semitics of the world, the Jewish people have an army of people of all faiths who support them. Look right here on FR. Look at all the posts supporting Bibi in his confrontations with Obama. Look at the resistance to the MSM PR crap involving the flotilla nonsense and all the other anti-Israel crap they spew. Look at even our RINO congress who slapped Obama down for his recent BS.

The Jews are not alone in the world by far and they never will be. There will always be an Obama or a UN type idiot, but for every one like that, there are a dozen more of us. Remember also that Obama and his Anti-Israel crap will soon be ending and a far more rational leader of the US will be taking his place.

All that’s true. But a definitive victory requires timing. When the time is right, we win and the world cheers, like in 1967 and 1948, or at Entebbe. When it’s wrong, the result is inconclusive and the majority of the world is POd, like Operation Cast Lead or both Lebanon campaigns. Even where we win a quick, conclusive, decisive victory, the Jooo!haters don’t go away; they just wait and bide their time.

Having nuclear warheads does not change that dynamic. Since Nagasaki, nukes have been to have and not use, except when somebody uses them on us, by which time it’ll be too late for hundreds of thousands. This business will not end until the coming of Moshiach, or if the Christians are right, the Second Coming, or if the Muslims are right, the 12th Imam (?), or if the Hindus are right, the 4th Age, or if the atheists are right, it will never end. I think I’m right, but whatever people believe, a final resolution is the only thing that will end this cat and mouse game.
