[Gov. Rick] Perry enjoys envied record as a fundraiser
Houston Chronicle ^ | Juy 3, 2011 | RICHARD S. DUNHAM, Washington Bureau

Posted on 07/04/2011 3:32:39 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

WASHINGTON — Rick Perry is the 100 million dollar man of Texas politics.

Over the past decade, he has been a political money machine, raising more than $100 million for three gubernatorial campaigns and another $50 million for GOP candidates as chairman of the Republican Governors Association in 2007-2008.

But the Texas governor's fundraising prowess will be tested as never before if he runs for president in 2012. While he's raised more campaign cash than anybody not named Bush in Texas history, Perry faces different rules and greater demands should he set his sights on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

"In order to have a realistic chance of winning the Republican primary, Perry will need at least $200 to $250 million in the form of direct contributions or independent expenditures on his behalf," said Mark P. Jones, a political science professor at Rice University.

Perry has a host of assets that could make him a strong candidate for the GOP nomination: An enviable record of Texas job creation during a roiling recession, a consistent conservative record on economic and social issues alike, and an undefeated record as a political candidate.

But one longtime Perry supporter and donor says the governor has to answer "yes" to two questions before he says "yes" to a presidential candidacy: Is he willing to undergo the grueling demands of a campaign, from the nearly 24/7 schedule to the media scrutiny of every aspect of your life? And is he willing and able to raise the money to compete first with Republican Mitt Romney, a wealthy businessman with a nationwide fundraising machine, then with President Barack Obama, who broke every record for presidential fundraising in 2008 and is aiming to top the $1 billion mark in 2012?...........

Those PerryBOTs are relentless. They all show up one day, posting 10-50 stories a day, start talking Perry/Palin, they seem to be lying about a lot of stuff, a whole bunch of really obnoxious behavior. It’s not like there was 1 of them then 2, there were 5 of them pushing Perry story after Perry story, pinging each other.

For me, it’s just easier to make sure many pro Perry threads get at least a sampler of Perry’s background, which includes not only the forced vacccinations, but the trans-texas corridor and bilderberg, but also the close ties to Karl Rove. It was Karl Rove who got Perry to switch to Republican. If anyone has been paying attention at all recently, Karl Rove tends to criticize some of our fine Conservative candidates (like Christine O’Donnell), and side with RINOs like Mike Castle.

Rick Perry’s entire argument seems to be
1) I’m not as bad as Obama
2) Texas is not as Liberal as New York or California, so there has been economic growth.

It’s almost like, ok, assume all Republicans except Rick Perry have ceased to exist, now, who are you going to vote for?

And what’s this “tea party” stuff with Perry. I can’t imagine real tea parties supporting Rick Perry if they knew the facts. Forced Vaccinations just doesn’t seem “tea party” to me. Yes, there are NWO Republicans, I’m not saying that Perry won’t get votes, but I just don’t see the tea party embracing a Bilderberg, globalist, one world goverment type. Establishment might be able to stomach that evil stuff, but that’s not tea party.

Proven track record:

-Texas gained 70,000 jobs while the nation as a whole lost 122,000 jobs.

-He has secured more FORTUNE 500 companies for Texas than any other state. (ie, read business friendly)

The above is what is important in THIS day and age.

1. Post that track record, if true, with some urls.

2. Has Perry addressed, and corrected,
his two RINO problems? Or is he just another Trojan
horse for Romney and the RINOs?

On Michele Bachmann announcement day, a tea party nod to Rick Perry “Washington - First, a disclaimer: The poll was completely unscientific. Some 160 tea partyers from around the country had gathered at the Washington headquarters of FreedomWorks, a conservative group that trains tea partyers in political organizing and advocacy. With reporters watching, the assembled activists were asked for a show of hands on the Republican presidential candidates.

The winner: Texas Gov. Rick Perry. He isn’t a candidate yet, and it’s not certain he ever will be. But Governor Perry’s “victory” is just one small indication that, were he to run, Perry would start with the goodwill of the GOP’s most energetic wing. …..

THANK YOU for posting that.

This FAKE TEA PARTY is ROMNEY-spawed?

Is Gardasil-Perry just another Trojan Horse for RomneyCARE
and Romney? Yes, your post suggests it.

'Fake-badge' Milt Romney and his minime Bill Hudak
are now linked to the creation
of fake 'Tea Party's, including the very one
which attacked Gov. Palin from Texas (see post 11)

A Romney spawned Tea Party that supports Perry?

Interesting.

Great pic! Let’s hope in 2012 that the dems are bagged like those doves lined up on that tailgate.

The only "pinging" I've seen is from anti-Perry posters who need to call for Help!

How many children were forced to receive Gardasil? Grand total?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds as if "forcing" even a small number to take it is okay with you? That Perry's EO contained the word mandate in the first place says he never intended for there to be an option - he would have said so.

Still Perry instead of Obama is infinitely better.

No.

It meant that it would be made available to everyone.

Look, you may be Perry’s relative, but get it straight.

IT WAS A MANDATE. TO TAKE MERCK PRODUCT.

PERRY’s CHIEF OF STAFF WAS MERCK’S AGENT.

PERRY GOT $6000 SHEKELS. (plus stock sales ... shhhhhhh)

INFORMED CONSENT WAS NEVER AN ISSUE TO PERRY

PERRY HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED HIS (RINO) ERROR. Why?

Correct me if I'm wrong

You're wrong.

It was a trick question. The answer is ZERO.

No children were forced to receive Gardasil.

Wow. These facts were only published like everywhere for the last few months, but I will help you out a little...

business/job friendly links below..Don't mean to pick on California, though..

Texas leads country in job creation, data shows

Top States for Business and Winner is Texas (yeah I know, this one is dated last year)

CALIFORNIA TAXES AWAY JOBS WHILE TEXAS ADDS..

The longest-serving governor in the United States, Perry has made job creation his top priority, and he has often criticized California’s high-tax, high-spending ways as economically ruinous. .

2) Perry, with regard to your gardasil issue, did not veto HB 1098, which reversed the mandate. OBAMACARE was forced down our throats regardless of what we thought. I wish you would post that in your postings. Perry looks very good in doing that in my opinion as it shows he really listens to the people. That HB1098 was passed in May of 2007 when the original bill was signed in February of 2007.

But, look on the bright side, Perry is not in the race yet!

OK. You convinced me. I am voting for Obama, so much better than "RINO-Gardasil-Perry". Thanks for the enlightenment.

but also the close ties to Karl Rove

Wrong! I guess Perry is so close to Karl Rove that Rove supported Kay Bailey H. in the last election.

Rove was Bush's man not Perry's. And the Bush's all supported Kay Bailey H. No love lost between the Bushes and Perry. Don't believe me? Look it up.

Many of us on the Perry threads (including me) are just trying to correct factual errors.

I'd read that his campaign coffers received $5,000.00 from Merck but I'll grant you $6,000.

A cut of stock sales though? Can you show ANY evidence of that at all? I'm asking seriously because I'd like to know. Or is this sorta like the rumor of him being gay.

TRUE or FALSE?

"The vaccine, Gardasil, is manufactured by Merck,
which was represented in Austin by the lobbyist Mike Toomey,
who was chief of staff for Mr. Perry from 2002 to 2004. "
