A Prominent Republican is joining a prominent Democrat in predicting that Gov. Cuomo will become President Obama's running mate for vice president next year.
Former New York GOP boss William Powers, credited with playing a key role in electing Rudy Giuliani mayor and George Pataki governor, was effusive in his praise of Cuomo's successes in the just-ended legislative session, and in his prediction of the freshman governor's political future.
"Andrew had a fabulous session. It was fabulous. A property-tax cap, ethics reform and, for Democrats, gay marriage," said Powers.

So Zero is giving Biden the boot - wonder if “Old Joe” will stop telling union boys not to vote Republican?
Thanks Sprite518. This is merely wishful thinking, not even to the point of a prediction yet. Zero needs a fall guy for his own failures, but it’s generally speaking not a good idea to dump the running mate to try to juice polling. All that does is point out in an undeniable way that the administration reeks of failure. I’m not going to research this, but off the top of my head, there were two POTUS who changed VPs when seeking reelection, Abraham Lincoln, and FDR (the latter doing so twice). Since Zero likes to equate himself with each of these men, he might give Biden the boot, or Biden may step aside as if it’s his own idea.
FDR’s break with the two-term precedent set by George Washington (previously, only W Wilson appeared to seek it, but no one in his party wanted him by that time; the 1940 convention wound up chanting “we want Roosevelt”) wasn’t given as a reason to lose Garner; FDR’s court-packing, socialism, single-party state planning, and anti-business policies led to a split. His next VP seemed to be more FDR’s style, but was eventually his opponent. Truman succeeded FDR, finished WWII, dropped two Big Ones, used the Army to break the postal strike, fired MacArthur, and barely squeaked out one election in his own right, against Dewey.
FDR had three VPs:
John N. Garner (1933â1941) — http://millercenter.org/president/fdroosevelt/essays/vicepresident/1837
Henry A. Wallace (1941â1945) — http://millercenter.org/president/fdroosevelt/essays/vicepresident/1838
Harry Truman (1945)
I thought Joe was supposed to bring maturity - gravitas - to the ticket.
I guess maturity and experience are no longer needed...
Yes, has anyone told babbling Joe Biden yet? He has been heard talking about running for president in 2016! He won’t be too happy if Obama dumps him.
Don’t want Romney. Perry is no prize, but between him, Romney, huntsman and pawlenty I’ll tale Perry.
Until Bachmann shows me otherwise, or until Palin gets in the race, she is my candidate.
A pair of fagalinos!
As a NYer I say good riddance.
As an American I say Cuomo’s tenure at HUD and his role in the mortgage crisis and real estate crash is a great issue for defeating that ticket.
