Sen. Graham: Gadhafi, like Hitler, is serious about attacking Europe (BARF ALERT)
The Hill, Washington DC ^ | 2011-07-06

Posted on 07/05/2011 4:58:39 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned on Tuesday that Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi is "serious" about attacking European cities in order to pressure European officials to cease their airstrikes against Libya.

"He actually means it," Graham said of Gadhafi. "Hitler meant it. He means it."

Graham spoke in a colloquy with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and used borderline apocalyptic tones about the need to remove Gadhafi from power.

"I know we're a war-weary nation, but there is no upside to Gadhafi staying in power," he said. "That is a national security nightmare for this country."

Graham added that while the top priority of the U.S. is to balance its budget, he warned that economic prosperity depends on removing dictators like Gadhafi.

"There will never will be economic prosperity in America if the world is in the hands of evil people who will make it very difficult for us to travel and trade and do business," he said.

He also said the U.S. needs to warm up to its role as the leader of the free world.

"I believe that we're destined to lead the free world," he said. "I don't consider it a burden. I consider it the birthright of all Americans — not only to maintain our freedom, but to help others secure theirs.

"The day that America rejects that leadership role is the day we will eventually lose our freedom," he added.

This is truly an analogy of vast historical ignorance. Qaddhafi, dungheap that he is, is unlike Hitler (and the danger posed by him) as: 1) his country is not sited in the middle of Europe; 2) he has a fraction of the 100 million ruled by Hitler; 3) he has no industrial base outside of oil; 4) his territorial ambitions have been limited to idiot border skirmishes with his neighbors; 5) his armed forces are weak, undermanned and with poorly maintained equipment; 6) he has no scientific or inventive base or experts; 7) he hasn’t singled out a particular group for his venom. At least Graham didn’t say something even more surpassingly stupid such as “if we don’t fight them there, they will be in San Francisco”.

“Hey, I’m all for smacking the crap out of Q’Daffy and turning him into a cloud of vapor for all the terrorist garbage he sponsored over the years, but who are we going to replace him with?”

I understand your sentiment, and normally would agree, but we actually traded that right for something else. One of the real accomplishments of the Bush efforts in recent years was to turn Qaddafi to one of OUR assets during the decade long “War on Terror”. He has been playing ball with us, and in his bizarre way, doing so in good faith.

If you turn someone, then later turn on and kill them, you will NOT get such cooperation from others down the line. I think this is yet another reason Obama/Clinton want to kill him. It will cut off our ability to turn others in the future, when we are demonstrably treacherous ourselves.

Oh, Lindsey.

Gadafi may be serious about blowing up a few bombs, but to compare that to Hitler’s nassive invasions meant to permanently add German territory is your typical silliness.

Graham can’t see the difference between siding with France and Europe against Hitler, and siding with members of Al Qaeda against Khadaffy.

And I thought I was a basher of the French. I’m a piker compared to Graham.

Hey France, Graham thinks you’re the equivalent of Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Frankly, I don’t.

I wonder what Kaddafi did to Obama to start all this... must have accused him of being a capitalist or something.

Has anyone ever seen Lindsey and Biden in the same place at one time or were they separated at birth?

Except it's entirely possible that his successor would be worse, idiot.

How many wars are enough? How many times do we have to fight Europe’s wars?

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned on Tuesday that Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi is "serious" about attacking European cities in order to pressure European officials to cease their airstrikes against Libya.

I would suggest that Iran will be the real problem. They are more or less the preeminent power in the region (with the exception of Turkey). An openly jihadist Pakistani regime is also a grave threat.

"He actually means it," Graham said of Gadhafi. "Hitler meant it. He means it."

Hitler wrote a book about his plans. In all fairness, so have the Muslims. It's called 'The Koran'.

"I know we're a war-weary nation, but there is no upside to Gadhafi staying in power," he said. "That is a national security nightmare for this country."

Graham added that while the top priority of the U.S. is to balance its budget, he warned that economic prosperity depends on removing dictators like Gadhafi.

Economic prosperity depends on our independence from unstable countries in the Middle East. C'mon. We created The Manhattan project and put the first man on the moon.

"There will never will be economic prosperity in America if the world is in the hands of evil people who will make it very difficult for us to travel and trade and do business," he said.

America in the hands of so called moderates is just as bad. Or worse, with the disguised intention.

"I believe that we're destined to lead the free world," he said. "I don't consider it a burden. I consider it the birthright of all Americans — not only to maintain our freedom, but to help others secure theirs.

Other nations must be willing to put their lives on the line. There is an allusion in the Bible that (paraphrasing) states if a slave is offered freedom, and rejects it, then bind him forever.

Many people read the Bible and think it justifies inequity, not realizing that it is also a commentary of the times. Reporting if you would.

Then let Europe deal with him. Until Congress approves this action we have no business being involved and the Generals carrying out Obama’s orders in this war should be tried for violating the law.

IMHO, Mr. Khaddafy is perfectly justified in striking back at nations who attacked his country without provocation.

I wouldn't go that far.

However, silly comments by Graham. Gaddaffi attacking Europe would the same thing as putting a gun is his mouth. Gaddaffi is not that insane or stupid.

Why is everyone “Hitler?” That guy had a huge industrial complex and some of the best general staff and engineers in the world. He was a nut, but he had the tools to do what he threatened.

Kaddafi ain’t Hitler. Not even close. Not even AA Hitler. More like Single A, drive to the games in a pickup truck hitler.

MeganC, I don’t agree with going in to combat Khadaffy because we are doing it on behalf of Al Qaeda and the Muslem Brotherhood. What happens if we are successful?

Morally, if we were representing a righteous group, we would be justified in taking action in Libya. I know some will debate me on that point. This debate is mute, because we can’t represent a righteous group, because there isn’t one.

Is Khadaffy justified in standing up against the entities attacking him from outside his nation? Well, the entities that advocated the attacks on Khadaffi the most, don’t advocate for us taking action in other nations at all.

Now that a United States of Iran is a possibility, they’re just happy as clams in mud to advocate it.

No sale.

Those that state what other nations do is their own business, shouldn’t be able to game this issue just because it’s Khadaffy and the Muslim Brotherhood will benefit.

If you don’t advocate for U.S. intervention, then shut the hell up Lefties.

Europe and the United States should not be taking action in Libya. Khadaffy should not be fighting against them. He doesn’t have moral grounds to do so. His own people want him out. I think the replacement will be worse in the long run.

Of course going by the common Leftist ideology, Khadaffy has as much right to rule as any U.S. president. Morality is very subjective. His moral values are as valid as ours.

Gag me.
