Cleaner air, costlier electricity under new EPA rule

WASHINGTON — In an effort to curb air pollution in downwind states, the Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday ordered utilities to either clean up or shut down older coal-fired power plants in 27 states in the eastern half of the U.S.

While EPA chief Lisa Jackson argues the cleaner air will improve public health, pushback already has come from some states and companies operating older coal-fired power plants.

They say the rule could prove too costly and that the timeline for compliance is too short.

Anticipating the EPA order, Oklahoma sued the agency in May, citing costs of up to $2.5 billion to install "scrubbers" that would reduce pollution from state coal plants.

That could drive up utility rates by as much as 20 percent, argued Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt. Texas also has opposed the rule.

So, let’s see.

Environmentalists restrict sulfur dioxide emissions because that is “good for the environment.”

But higher sulfur dioxide emissions apparently reverse global warming, at least that is the conclusion in a separate article about why the globe has not warmed since 1998.

So, what’s a tree hugger to do?

Anyone not feel we are in a cold war with our own government?

Every day some unelected agency places one more chain around our neck and will immediately call us greedy or a racist for opposing unconstitutional acts by a completely out of control federal government.

Yes, I’ve noticed and as far as I’m concerned, it’s time to take the “Cold War” Hot! I don’t know about your state, but mine? “We don’t need no stinkin’ Federales!” It’s past time to secede!

Then we have 27 states who have among them 54 US Senators, and I think EPA loses its budget this year.

Bye bye EPA.

When oh When are these states going to start telling the EPA to kiss their grits? They should be screaming and yelling and demanding the EPA be shut down.

Of the 54 US Senators, 54 of them support Agenda 21 and Global Establishment. The EPA stays fully funded and coal is out the door. Sorry but that life.

There is a cure for GONORRHEA LECTIM (DEADLY DISEASE)

This is a very serious disease......Information about Gonorrhea Lectim

The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of this old disease. The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim. It’s pronounced “Gonna re-elect ‘em,” and it is a terrible obamanation.

The disease is contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior involving putting your cranium up your rectum. Many victims contracted it in 2008..but now most people, after having been infected for the past 1-2 years, are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is.

It’s sad because Gonorrhea Lectim is easily cured with a new drug just coming on the market called Votemout. You take the first dose in 2010 and the second dose in 2012 and simply don’t engage in such behavior again; otherwise, it could become permanent and eventually wipe out all life as we know it.

Several states are already on top of this, like Virginia and New Jersey, and apparently now Massachusetts, with many more seeing the writing on the wall.

Most people have no idea how evil EPA is. Here’s the short version: Everyone at EPA is a Nazi.

Check out Rapanos v US. It’s a complete reading of EPA subterfuge, bribery, pay-offs, extortion and pure, unadulterated Seig Heil Hitler nazism.

And my Republican Party is refusing to defund these Nazis. Gutless worms.

EPA chief Lisa Jackson argues the cleaner air will improve public health

The health impacts of a bad economy will surpass these public health "improvements".

Besides, I do not believe the air will be any cleaner than it already is.

They are chasing the costly effects of minute gains. But that is what the environuts are all about.

Rich, while secession could be a last resort, I would love for the American voting public to act like educated adults and ONLY elect a crop of public officials who promise to follow the US Constitution as originally written and intended as described in the Federalist Papers.

This promise would mandate that they immediately leave office should they violate the principal of limited government as DEMANDED by the founding documents.

If we as adults cannot demand this of our representatives then who is actually to blame?

We can also demand that our children NOT attend liberal universities on our dime. If they want communist indoctrination then they should pay for it 100%.

We can also defund the liberal media by refusing to buy their printed material and not viewing any of their network telecasts. No need to boycott advertisers as they will soon stop advertising when the ratings continue to decline.

If we do these things for at least 2 election cycles and continue to see a government at war with us then real Americans only need to read what Thomas Jefferson said about a government which does not follow the will of the people and why the founders included the 2nd Amendment. Our plan of action was laid out for us by the founders knowing fully well that a revolution should always be the last resort but a resort none the less.

How clean does the air have to be: Clean enough to destroy the coal mining industry? Or clean enough to prevent the
construction of new power plants.

I agree in principle with what you’re advocating, but the plain and simple truths are these:
1) Some 40% or more of the “voting public” pay no taxes; they vote on the basis of how much more gov’t goodies they can get; they don’t work, they contribute nothing. Free food, free cell phones, free housing, free internet, etc. We all know the old adage to the effect that once the people figure out they can vote benefits to themselves, all is lost.
2) Yes, the Constitution is a great thing; I like Ben Franklin’s line when asked “what did we get” and he replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it”. It’s lost; it’s gone; it died a slow painful death but it’s demise began with the Courts’ expansion of Federal jurisdiction through the broad and then ever broader application of the Commerce clause. The final straw was the nail in the coffin of States Rights was the series of school integration cases. That, and the Civial Rights act of 1964, wherein real property rights were trampled, (to my knowledge, the U.S. is the only country in the world where the seller can’t choose his/her buyer), effectively ended the Republic as it had been established.

I could go on ad nauseum, but the real truth is that as long as there is a central, Federal Gov’t in DC, elections to Federal office don’t really matter because there’s so much corruption of the system that all we do is replace one group that’s been bought off with another group that’s going to be bought off.

As I see it, with the Republic dead, there’s no reason for the States to remain in a “Union”.
