Atlanta announces anti-cheating plan

ATLANTA — As the Atlanta school district grapples with a cheating scandal that has drawn national attention, the interim school superintendent said Thursday that the district will automatically investigate suspicious test scores and require ethics training for all employees.
The changes announced by interim Superintendent Erroll Davis Jr. come two days after state investigators said 178 educators had cheated on standardized tests used to meet federal benchmarks dating back to 2001. Davis reiterated Thursday that none of those educators will work in an Atlanta classroom again.
The educators face possible criminal charges and could lose their teaching licenses for changing answers on students’ tests and helping students answer questions. Some may face charges of lying to investigators or tampering with state documents.
“This is just a start,” said Davis, who has been on the job less than a week.

In another school, a teacher tells investigators that her principal warned them, "if anyone slanders me I will sue them out the ass."

"APS is run like the Mob," the teacher said, according to the investigation report.
No one will get fired, these are Holders people.
Expel the cheaters? From their jobs!
Unless and until I start seeming them go to jail, I'm just going to assume this means they'll get transferred to cushy "admin" jobs instead, at the same union-guaranteed salary and benefits scale.
Yawwwwwnnnnn.... Anybody thinks anything will change in Atlanta, please have some more Cool Aid. EVERYTHING that hits the news as ‘an item’ or ‘a quote’ in Atlanta politics is purely for the purpose of perpetuating the status quo. It’s stained and shamed the entire state. All of this to attempt to satisfy the whiners and their NAACP.
I have been pulling for Black America to get its act together, there is way too much wasted energy and talent there. For a while it looked like Atlanta might point the way but it is a dismal failure on almost every level. And, that is bad for all of us as Americans.
I’ll believe it (punishment for these people) when I see it. However, at least they’re talking about it and some light is being shined on the situation, since it sounds as if it was not only cheating, but a whole system of coercion and organized fraud.
Sadly, I suspect that if you looked at other majority black school districts, you’d find the same thing going on.
There’s no reason blacks can’t learn and can’t compete, but the fact that they have been clients of the Democratic Party for generations has made them think of cheating as their first resort. It’s all about gaming the system.
If they actually taught the kids, they wouldn’t have to cheat for them. No wonder they hated No Child Left Behind. The teachers union knew they couldn’t make the grade when all they do is fill their own pockets.
No one will lose so much as a reserved parking space.
And the people imagined they would not be found out?
If you do this once, you have to do it every year or it looks like the student performace has gone down. Then they investigate why it has gone down and you are caught.
If you have to do it every year you are bound to get caught.
I don’t think these people are any smarter than the kids they are teaching.

The quality of Education in this country has fallen in direct proportion to the amount of its collectivisation, perhaps exponentially so.

Actually they HAVE continued to teach the urban population that cheating, lying and stealing is perfectly accepatable.

Yes, that’s what they need ... ethics training and an anti-cheating plan. The whole problem was that nobody had explained to the teachers that redoing the tests was wrong, and they didn’t have a Plan!
