I’ll say it, I know it’s blasphemy here, but SOME socialism isn’t a bad thing. The social safety nets we often speak of, are good things. It when safety nets are twisted and inflated to form a way of life that the whole thing falls apart.

Fiscal responsibility is key.

I don't think that, by world standards, they're all that heavily-socialized. They do have socialized healthcare, but their economic freedom is very high.

Of course, their Labor government is trying to impose a carbon tax which will devastate their industrial base, so this discussion may soon be academic.
