U.N. official deplores Texas execution (story uses Ft. Hood shooting memorial picture)

UNITED NATIONS, July 8 (UPI) -- The Texas execution of a Mexican national puts the United States in violation of international law, the U.N. human rights chief said Friday.

High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said federations like the United States have a responsibility to ensure that individual states "respect the international responsibilities assumed by the country as a whole."

...."I am very disappointed that neither the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles nor the governor took steps open to them to prevent this breach of the U.S. obligations under international law from occurring," Pillay said.

It's interesting that this story uses a picture of Rick Perry and Barack Obama at the memorial at Ft Hood, Texas. There were 43 casualties in the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting. Among the 13 killed were 12 soldiers, one of whom was pregnant, and a single Army civilian employee. Thirty others, including the shooter, were wounded and required hospitalization.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan, MD, a 39-year-old U.S. Army psychiatrist of Palestinian descent, who shouted 'Allahu Akbar' before the massacre, is the sole suspect in the shootings and faces the death penalty in Texas.

The majority opinion said, correctly, that the decisions made by whatever international court it was have no parallel in United States Code and are thus not binding.

Guess there are very few pictures with both the *culprits* included.

My Wife says if the UN is so damned worried about Mexicans getting executed, they should send peacekeepers to the Mexican side to prevent them from coming here and MURDERING OUR CITIZENS!

I couldn’t agree with you more. Can we get a good bumper sticker for that?

That Perry didn’t acquiesce makes me want to give him a chance to prove he’s not another big Statist RINO when the chips are down.

How long has this guy been on death row? Years, I am sure. You would think the Mexican Consulate would have branch offices in our prisons the way their illegals are filling up the places.

Right! Plus the UN can go #$% itself as far as I’m concerned.

More Harvard (of course she went there), ruling-class type rhetoric from people from 3rd World maggot-infested hellholes who excuse every Jihadist Muslim killing, every Genocidal African dictator or Asian repressive regime, but cricize the US for executing a convicted murderer?

F the UN. President Palin, get us OUT of that crappy organization. At a minimum, get it out of the US.

As far as I know Texas is not a UN member. Only the US federa government is a “person” under “international law”.

UN???

Lets look at the UN and its human rights council....

Then , more recently, the U.N.’s Conference on Disarmament is now held by North Korea.

The UN is not even credible, successful in turning itself into a laughing stock...

It’s my understanding that the United States Senate never ratified the agreement that this goober from the UN is whining about.
