Pelosi Counters GOP Accusations
Talk Radio News Service ^ | July 8, 2011 | By Philip Bunnell

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) held a briefing Friday and countered many of the claims made by House Republicans in another briefing held earlier in the day.

“It’s been day 185 of the Republican majority in the Congress and we have still not seen one jobs bill come to the floor,” said Pelosi. “This is obviously reflected in jobs number this morning.” The Democrats, on the other hand, “have put probably twenty job initiatives on the floor and the Republicans have rejected every one of them,” declared Pelosi.

The former Speaker of the House also pointed to the number of bills signed into law during the Democratic majority versus the Republican majority as an explanation for the dismal unemployment numbers.

House Republicans had held a briefing a few hours earlier where they claimed to have passed nine job creating initiatives, all of which were ignored or stalled in the Democrat controlled Senate.

Pelosi described the cuts proposed by the GOP as “austerity measures” several times, and cautioned that things would only get worse if “we continue down a path that is cost shifting to the states in order to reduce the federal budget.”

The California Democrat was very critical of the catch 22 that GOP cuts would allegedly produce. Pelosi said that CEOs told her that “they will create jobs when they have customers.” However, Pelosi warned, “when you fire a policeman, a firefighter, and a teacher, and a public worker because of austerity programs, you are not only hurting the safety of your neighborhoods, the education of your children … you are reducing the number of consumers.”

Pelosi did say that she was “optimistic that we can come together.” Striving for a tone of conciliation, the Minority Leader said that “I don’t like to have a situation where we’re saying, well, you need our votes so you better have this in the bill.” An issue like the deficit, “a big deal,” should rise above partisan bickering, said Pelosi.

“It’s been day 185 of the Republican majority in the Congress and we have still not seen one jobs bill come to the floor,” said Pelosi

Democrats don't get that it is the private sector that is going to 'create jobs'. 4 years of Speaker Pelosi jobs bills, and the result is higher unemployment.

This woman is incredibly stupid or dishonest (or both).

The Republicans do not control Congress. They control the House of Representatives.

Ahhh...but you forgot to mention that Pelosi has said that in order to boost the economy, unemployment checks are one of the best things going.

Exactly. Pelosi’s idea of a jobs bill is unemployment benefits.

She’s an idiot! The only legislation that can create jobs is a tax break for business owners so we can hire people instead of sending our money to nancy who will spend it to create votes for dumbocrats.

The only jobs bill that will work is one that castrates the DC regulatory apparatus...and radically restructures how we tax one another.

Given that in general, the same minds that created the mess, are not capable of the solution...we're in for a long haul of misery.

It seems for every jobs bill the dems have produced, their housepets, EPA and other dictatorial government agencies, managed to come up with a rule to kill it.

The obama administration, pelosi, and their complicit agencies have done for the economy what panty hose did for heavy petting...made it near impossible.

Democrat jobs bills are part of the problems...legislation is part of the problem, for it seems everything the democrats pass, or do, is totally opposite what needs to happen for the private sector to create jobs.

America's business is seeing what the democrats and obama have done and they are sitting it out...waiting to get these nation-killers out of office and let the private sector take over.

This is why the GOP votes against all of the dems job bills, because they are worthless and end up killing more jobs than they create...like obama's stimulus which cost over $200 thousand for each job it created.

You can't buya jobs...the nature of jobs is that it creates and makes its own way, when business/sales are good, you can afford to put on more people to make it better...that's the way it works, almost perpetual, and nutcase pelosi and commiebama don't have a clue as to how it works, their policies will never work...probably by design.

A jobs bill? As if Congress can write something on a piece of paper, have it pass Congress and then signed by a president, and PRESTO... jobs are created. Pathetic!!! They have no clue as to who creates jobs.

A Job Bill is the Following Ms. Pelsoi:

Lower taxes on Job Creators

Less regulations by unelected bureaucrats at the EPA, NLRB and OSHA

The releasing of energy resources by allowing high paid workers and support industries to tap our unlimited Energy resources.

Allow Government Contracts to be bid on by non union businesses.

That is not a Job Bill it is allowing this country to produce jobs and revenues.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are two of the reasons why I despair for the American Public - it takes real idiots to elect them and most of their Democrat cronies. Without that kind of apathetic stupidity, Obama would still be a “community organizer” in Chicago.

You want a jobs bill? Here’s one.

On January 1, the following Departments are abolished and terminated:
1. Department of Energy
2. Department of Commerce
3. Department of Education
4. Environmental Protection Agency

In addition:
1. Obamacare is repealed effective immediately.
2. All further discussions of increasing CAFE standards are to be terminated
3. Energy standards requiring the abolition of the Edison light bulb are repealed.

The President is encouraged to urge the States to follow the federal lead.

This woman is as dumb as a sack of rocks. If you listen to what she says it pretty much boils down to this: *We in the political class, Republican and Democrat alike, initiated and passed over the decades numerous pieces of deficit and debt generating legislation to help the special interest groups we needed to get reelected. Now the rest of the country has sent non ruling class members to Congress who want to change that and that's the reason we in the ruling class can't shove our agenda down the throat of the rest of the country.*

Her complaint, it seems, is that the elitist establishment in the Republican Party cannot deliver their usual “Go along to get along” vote and she is sending a message to that elitist establishment to get back to business as usual or pay a huge price in the inside the beltway MSM.

Herein lies the difference between the ruling class Republicans versus the ruling class Democrats. Within the Democrat ruling class, you vote as the leaders tell you to vote knowing that the leadership will find a way to gloss over your profligate spending the first year of your term and find a way to make you look like a deficit fighter in the second year, your reelection year. The Republicans do the same thing. The difference is that the members of the Republican party have the latitude to vote against their leadership without the impending doom a Democrat would have if ever they strayed from the party line. It has been this way for a long time, in my estimation. The bottom line is that the new members of Congress have yet to be corrupted and are doing something totally unheard of in American politics in over 150 years, that is standing by the promises made during their campaigns. It remains to be seen if they can retain their integrity. A test for America is 2012. Will the non ruling class, referred to by Angelo Codevilla as the Country class (July August 2010 The American Spectator), once again purge more of the progressive/socialists from our government or will they just send the same destroyers back to Washington?

Ms. Pelosi is the "leader" of a bunch of losers....

...why does anyone give a rat's ass what she says...

...she had her chance, blew it, and drove the 'rats into a loser status.

...she has no idea what she is doing...

...and never forget....her "wealth" is generated from "Mr. Pelosi" in spite of her...I bet even he hates her ideology.

The Dems proposed job bills only create more jobs for the government bureaucracy. The better one can lie equates to achieving a higher level in politics and this hag is too close to top.
