Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) held a briefing Friday and countered many of the claims made by House Republicans in another briefing held earlier in the day.
Its been day 185 of the Republican majority in the Congress and we have still not seen one jobs bill come to the floor, said Pelosi. This is obviously reflected in jobs number this morning. The Democrats, on the other hand, have put probably twenty job initiatives on the floor and the Republicans have rejected every one of them, declared Pelosi.
The former Speaker of the House also pointed to the number of bills signed into law during the Democratic majority versus the Republican majority as an explanation for the dismal unemployment numbers.
House Republicans had held a briefing a few hours earlier where they claimed to have passed nine job creating initiatives, all of which were ignored or stalled in the Democrat controlled Senate.
Pelosi described the cuts proposed by the GOP as austerity measures several times, and cautioned that things would only get worse if we continue down a path that is cost shifting to the states in order to reduce the federal budget.
The California Democrat was very critical of the catch 22 that GOP cuts would allegedly produce. Pelosi said that CEOs told her that they will create jobs when they have customers. However, Pelosi warned, when you fire a policeman, a firefighter, and a teacher, and a public worker because of austerity programs, you are not only hurting the safety of your neighborhoods, the education of your children you are reducing the number of consumers.
Pelosi did say that she was optimistic that we can come together. Striving for a tone of conciliation, the Minority Leader said that I dont like to have a situation where were saying, well, you need our votes so you better have this in the bill. An issue like the deficit, a big deal, should rise above partisan bickering, said Pelosi.
Her parrots are out there this morning echoing the same line. Demwits, all of them.
Thanks for the numbers!

The very thought of allowing this idiot and her fellow idiots to write Any more bills sends me running for the projectile proof vomit can.
She’s a piece of something, all right. What? Don’t know. It’s too alien to identify. Stinks, too.
The only kind of jobs you can create through legislation are government jobs but those are not going to solve the problem, just make it worse since each one is a net drain on the economy.
If you want more jobs, Ms. Pelosi, you need to cut the regulatory burden, halt ObamaCare, cut corporate tax rates and stop double taxation of money earned off-shore. Stop demonizing small business $200,000-earning "millionaires and billionaires" while scaring the living hell out of them with monstrous cost obligations and threats of even more taxation.
Yesterday the golfer-in-chief strode out to the podium and said some really stupid things. Changing to first-to-file patents from first-to-invent will help large corporations, not small businesses. I don't care what the rest of the world does. They are not the United States. If you want to dis-incentivize entrepreneurial risk and innovation, make the change.
Another asinine thing he said was if we "invest" in "infrastructure" like "roads, highways and railways" all those jobless homebuilders can work on that as if all construction skills are interchangeable!
Throw in BATF, HHS, privatize USPS, eliminate all foreign aid, cap all federal employees and elected officials at $100K, no pensions or benefits for elected officials and we are serious.
Of course, Nancy is the same woman who, after having attended the 2002 CIA brief on enhanced interrogations (her recorded voice heard commenting positively about the process)... then, seven years later, denied even being at the meeting.
She also believes she had the power to arrest Karl Rove.
It’s time for Nancy to retire in luxury to “the home.”
