John Phillip Walker Lindh, my son, was raised a Roman Catholic, but converted to Islam when he was 16 years old. He has an older brother and a younger sister. John is scholarly and devout, devoted to his family, and blessed with a powerful intellect, a curious mind, and a wry sense of humour.
Labelled by the American government as "Detainee 001" in the "war on terror", John occupies a prison cell in Terre Haute, Indiana. He has been a prisoner of the American government since 1 December 2001, less than three months after the terror attacks of 9/11.
John is entirely innocent of any involvement in the terror attacks, or any allegiance to terrorism. That is not disputed by the American government. Indeed, all accusations of terrorism against John were dropped by the government in a plea bargain, which in turn was approved by the US district court in which the case was brought.
Despite its proud history as a stable constitutional democracy, the US has, for 10 years, been affected by post-traumatic shock, following the horrific events of 11 September 2001. I can find no other explanation for the barbaric mistreatment and continued detention of a gentle young man like John Lindh.

I have always thought Lindh was complicit.
Your offspring was detained on an active battlefield. He was not in uniform. He was clearly there with the enemy.
What should have happened is that they should have shot him right there. Now, because you are an awful Father and failure as a human my tax dollars have to support this mope until someone can beat him to death in a prison shower.

How about the death of a former CIA agent out to protect Americans from your POS son? Eff your traitor family.
It's as if this guy as never heard of his son's conduct at Qala-i-Jangi. He was among the most hard-core fighters who held out for days in the cellar under the armory.

He is now serving a 20-year prison sentence in connection with his participation in Afghanistan’s Taliban army. He was captured during the Battle of Qala-i-Jangi, a violent Taliban prison uprising where American CIA officer Johnny “Mike” Spann was killed.
Lindh received training at Al-Farouq, a training camp associated with Al-Qaeda and located in Afghanistan. There, he attended a lecture by Osama bin Laden before the September 11, 2001 attacks. Lindh had previously received training with Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, an internationally designated terrorist organization based in Pakistan.

And your son is a traitor and is lucky he hasn’t been executed for his crimes.
He was captured on the battlefield, an American fighting Americans, without a uniform, therefore a traitor. Any treatment of him short of a firing squad is a display of mercy. He isn’t dead. He wakes up each morning, gets to drink coffee and eat breakfast. Be thankful, Dad.

I don't buy the bullsh*t that little John Lindh was on some peaceful new-age voyage of self-discovery.
Should have smacked the hell out of him before he turned 16 to pally around with terrorists. Might have done some good.
Now its too late.
The son he’s defending is on record stating that this man’s homosexuality is what drove him to Mohammedanism. Of course he’s going to be looking around to blame someone else for... anything.
