Palin warns Boehner on debt ceiling
The Hill ^ | July 10, 2011 | Erik Wasson

Posted on 07/10/2011 4:36:27 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has issued a stern warning to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) as Boehner sits down with President Obama Sunday night to negotiate a raising of the debt ceiling: don't do it.

Palin, in an interview appearing in Newsweek, “made it clear that she’s against any deal that raises the debt ceiling and would hold House Speaker John Boehner’s feet to the fire if he agreed to one” according to the magazine.

“No, we have to cut spending. It is imperative, and I will be very, very disappointed if Boehner and the leaders of the Republican Party cave on any kind of debt deal in the next couple of months,” she said.

Palin last month told Fox News that she would be against any raising of the debt ceiling and favors holding the line and slashing spending across the board instead.

But she acknoweldged that Congress will likely raise the debt ceiling anyway.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner again on Sunday said that the U.S. credit rating would suffer if the debt limit is not raised by Aug. 2—a prospect that would lead to higher interest rates and lower economic growth.

Only a small minority of Republicans in Congress, such as presidential candidate Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) are taking the “just say no” approach to the debt ceiling. Most Tea Party-backed members in the House favor tying a raising of the debt ceiling to cuts, spending caps and a balanced budget amendment.

In the Newsweek interview, Palin brags that she could win the White House if she chooses to run for it in 2012.

There’s no crying when you’re dealing with someone like Obama. He’ll bite your head off. Boehner should know that by now.

Obama only has that reputation because the Bohner types give him everything he wants out of fear he’ll call them racists. Obama is a befuddled fool with no savy, no skill and no knowledge of anything that isn’t fed to him from his handlers.

All Bohner has to do is say “NO” to everything Obama wants and hold a presser to explain why. Then the rest of the Repubs do the same. Use Obama’s tactics. Swamp the media with ‘why’ and let them try to spin it.

They can’t.

But the Repubs don’t wanna Offeeennnndddddd anyone and so we get the shaft and Obama cruises to another undeserved public win.

Her high negatives are a fact. She and Newt both have very high negatives.

Yes, but we have had nothing but Palin hating from all sides for YEARS (literally).

And she hasn't begun campaigning; nor have her volunteers.

So her "negatives" are a mile wide and an inch deep.

Cheers!

Talking Points Flipping MEMOS?

Hack cough *spit*.

I know among the people here in Iowa who discuss these things, it is difficult to find much support for Palin.

Get out of the nursing home where Dem operatives cast the ballots for the patients, then, Tokyo Rose.

And I'd recommend you refund Cass Sunstein's money, too. He won't look kindly on being ripped off by an incompetent concern troll -- and it might affect whether you are given a the surgery or a painkiller next time you need medical care, dear.

Didn't you hear? Obamacare PASSED and the RINOs aren't repealing it OR de-funding it.

Cheers!

I just can’t fathom why people don’t look at the full picture and understand the game that the GOP has to play with the press to accomplish their goals. The 2 trillion compromise was a thing of beauty, a masterful manipulation to put Bambi over the ropes and allow for legal ramifications that have direct impact on written bills. Do you people understand this? Seriously, it’s process above primrose, and those who play the game to win with the smugness of liberals always show their hand one move too soon. Boehner showed that hand yesterday, and it was brilliant because he knew that it would piss off everyone. Considering Boehner is only in charge of 1/3 of the negotiations he has responded better than any other GOP person in power for years, especially the milquetoast Republicans who gave in to Clinton during the budget negotiations.

This has been a brilliant game of poker..and we are holding a full house right now thanks to some LONG awaited media savvy. Until we learn to play the game and support it, we are destined to fail until we unite and recognize the walls we are up against and the methods it takes to bring the truth..the real decider..to the forefront.

Give it some time for God’s sake before you rush to judgement.

Newt has high negatives for a reason.

Sarah’s negatives (if they exist) are because of media lies and propaganda. She can easily dispell them because they are not true.

When you compare the public turnout I spoke of earlier to the rest of the political field, it in no way supports the media meme of ‘high negatives.’ Since there are dozens of instances of Palin drawing massive and highly supportive crowds, Occam’s Razor would indicate that there is in fact, tremendous support - not high negatives.

The ‘high negatives’ that do exist seem to be concentrated in the offices of newspapers/TV news networks/Dem party offices and the PDS addled minds of some Freepers.

Like I said. Who do we believe...the media propaganda or our lying eyes?

That makes sense as long as we’re not going to agree to some gargantuan increase with “promised, future cuts”... which we both know will not ever happen.

That’s what folks are upset about imo. We think we’re being taken to the cleaners - again - ala Reagan and Bush 41.

All the screaming at Boehner is about that I think. We want cuts NOW...for this FY. We want only a big enough increase to get us that far. Do it again next year.

But WHATEVER YOU DO BOEHNER, we will not be satisfied w/ future cuts. They simply will not happen - no matter how much champagne and caviar you get for signing on... IT SUX

We are in desperate need of real leadership, but President Obama’s solution to everything is to grow government by borrowing more money, spending more money, printing more money, and taxing our job creators. He once said that he “believes in American Exceptionalism…just as the Greeks believe in Greek Exceptionalism.” Well, the path he has us on will make us just as “exceptional” as Greece – debt crisis, stagnation, permanent high unemployment, and all.

As we approach 2012, there are important lessons we can learn from all of this. First, we should never entrust the White House to a far-left ideologue who has no appreciation or even understanding of the free market and limited government principles that made this country economically strong. Second, the office of the presidency is too important for on-the-job training. It requires a strong chief executive who has been entrusted with real authority in the past and has achieved a proven track record of positive measurable accomplishments.

That is a great speech by Sarah Palin, especially the comments above.

Bottom line is, we have GOT to throw that RAT bastard, socialist fascist commie pig 0dumb0 out of office as soon as possible, preferably before 2012 if the House pubbies could muster up their gonads and impeach the SOB 0dumb0 for criminal activities & cover-ups starting with Operation Fast & Furious (and send Eric Holder to prison as well).

That, in a nutshell, is the problem. For too long, 'compromise' has been 'complete capitulation of our position' either by force, or fraud. We are no longer willing to accept that form of 'compromise'. That is no longer an option, and this must be made clear to the 'leadership', in no uncertain terms. This is what Palin has done here...

Team Palin better have a server that can handle big financial traffic on Day 1.

Got that right. Her electric meter that powers those servers will be spinning at 5000 RPM’s

Palin ought to be making his warning to Obama and Reid. John Boehner isn’t all-powerful and there’s only so much he can do.

Budget bills are supposed to originate in the House. So it is entirely appropriate to issue the warning to Boehner, as well as 0dumb0 & dirty dingy maggot Harry Reid.

Boehner could spare himself all the agonizing gut wrenching he is putting himself through as well as Repubs & conservatives, if he would just MAN-UP and publicly declare....

1) NO DEBT-CEILING INCREASE....PERIOD

2) Submit a 2011-12 budget at only the projected "revenue" (tax collections) limit of $2.6 trillion. Repubs are always talking about a balanced budget amendment which is a piece of crap. If the pubbies had balls, they don't need a balanced budget amendment to actually SUBMIT a balanced budget for 2011-12.

“Most Tea Party-backed members in the House favor tying a raising of the debt ceiling to cuts, spending caps and a balanced budget amendment.”

IMO, the balanced budget amendment is no more than a kick the can down the road cop out. So the ever increasing spending can gleefully go on sinking the US deeper into the debt quagmire.

Sarah Palin is the one person who holds the power to totally destroy the GOP with just two words, “THIRD PARTY.”

So the RINO ankle biters can whimper and whine about Palin, but they are still very much aware there exists a Rubicon they dast not cross.
