Call it eliminating an unfair break, or removing an unjust loophole, or even "taking a balanced approach". Just don't call it raising taxes.

In contrast, depreciation allowance at least does let companies keep more of their own money, because the money goes to the company that first earned it, and then did something with it.
He will sign an executive order to raise the debt ceiling, citing it as a national emergency. Nothing will stand in his way.
Watching Oblidiots live is much like watching a trainwreck.... only the Oblidiots are carying more toxic waste.
I agree the GOP house should pass a debt ceiling bill... BUT, they should fix it at $14.3 T. Thus, not only making a statement we have to cut back profligate spending, but setting a precedent for setting the ceiling for the next year, even if its the same as the last year. Next precedent to set: setting the ceiling to be less than the previous year.
Wouldn’t the rich have the advantage of being able to buy on the black market or in foreign lands? What about a flat tax rate...EVERYONE pays 25% or 15% of their income in taxes. Whether you make ten dollars a year or ten million.
“Or College tuition tax credits supposedly great if you have kids. Except everybody gets them”
This phases out at a certain income level. I had TWO kids in school and couldn’t get any of it because of our income level. Had to wait until the wife retired this year to lower our income.
Flat tax makes more sense. The fair tax is subject manipulation and abuse.
Ms. Werner will undergo an intensive two week "attitude adjustment" or "philosophical alteration" training course...and then be returned to work.
This two week session involves being forced to watch continuous looped TV show tapes of little crissy mathews and keith ole-burr-man.
Suitable for the "re-education" of all liberals who are suspected of actually attempting to think critically....dontchaknow!

Did you forget a sarcasm tag? Or are you seriously suggesting asset confiscation?
You tell her from me that I envy her husband, and stand in awe of her accomplishments.
She is a striking example of what CAN be done.
I am legally attached to her exact opposite.
Instead, lets create a 1% asset tax on billionaires.
Yeah! You and Joe Stalin!
Theft of earned wealth already taxed - GREAT idea
My wife is hotter than a black road in Georgia on the fourth of July.
Her only job is to give me a heart attack so that I don't die a long and painful death. The undertaker will need a hammer and chisel to get the smile off my face.
You are indeed fortunate. In the other "departments" outside of the financial sphere....it is pretty much a wasteland as well.
As to money....my dad used to say, "Money isn't everything....but it's way ahead of whatever's in second place."
God bless Dad!
Hear, Hear!
What you propose would work well for those working “on the books”, but how do you tax those who work “cash only” an never declare any income such as the illegal aliens doing house cleaning/gardening, prostitues, drug dealers, bookies, pimps, etc. A sales tax would cover all of these “cash only” enterpirses.
