House Speaker John Boehner expressed doubt Tuesday about President Obama’s warning that if the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt limit is not raised by Aug. 2, the elderly may not get their Social Security payments.
“I don’t know what to believe,” Boehner told Fox News’ Bret Baier in exclusive interview after the latest White House meeting with congressional leaders.

Per Rush Limbaugh, entitlements (includes SS) are not impacted by the debt ceiling.
So, this appears to be an outright lie.
IIRC, they used a similar warning/threat a few months ago when they were talking government shutdown — to which the SSA responded that checks would go out as scheduled, and that automatic deposits would also go out on time.
Boehner - Grow a pair and tell Obozo to go ahead and do what he has threatened!

SS is in the red now. It is a pay as you go program. The General Fund must come up with the money to make up the shortfall, i.e., provide the funds to redeem the IOUs in the SSTF. Right now, Obama is assigning the priorities on what will and will not be paid as the revenue comes in.
Call their bluff and let’s see if Obummer stops social security checks. I don’t think he has the balls or the authority to stop them.
I’ve never seen such cowardice. It’s just surreal how both parties are so afraid to stand up to this community organizer. He’s one nasty piece of work and ALL of congress needs to stand up to him and do what’s best for the country — not obama’s re-election.

“There are plenty of funds in the system, Brett, but the President gets to make those decisions. If he’d rather that Seniors not get their Social Security checks than Planned Parenthood not get their money to fund abortions, we’ll that’s his decision.”
As an aside, just to give an idea of the idiocy of government, presently I am listening to The Jason Lewis Show and he is explaining how his Minnesota license tabs were due and he was unable to renew them because of the state shutdown and one day after they are due he gets pulled over and ticketed $100 for having out of date license tabs.
He's considering sending his return correspondence to Mark Dayton's office since the DMV is closed.
You can get application and accepted for welfare over the phone during the shutdown and you can't get you license renewed and IF caught commuting with out of date tabs you get a fine.....
