Alternative Headline: Obama 2012 Fundraising Behind 2008 Pace
National Review ^ | 7/13/11 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 07/13/2011 6:00:50 AM PDT by markomalley

You’ll recall that at the end of last month, I wasn’t quite sure that Obama’s fundraising was as bad as some suggested.

From a Jolt:

Campaign officials revealed during the last week that they have set a target of raising $60 million for the quarter from at least 450,000 donors. But even $60 million would not seem to be a very ambitious goal for Obama. He raised the same amount during the second quarter of 2007, just after he announced his 2008 campaign.”

To match the $750 million or so he raised in 2008, one would expect Obama to average closer to $100 million per quarter for the next seven quarters, no? And to meet the much-hyped $1 billion number, Obama would have to perform well beyond that.

Part of me always looks warily at these sorts of leading indicators, but we will know fairly soon if there’s a reason that the Obama team is emphasizing that they don’t measure their capability to successfully raise money by that traditional metric of money raised.

Today the number is $86 million, an impressive sum by any measure. But it’s worth remembering, as Nathan Wurtzel notes, Obama’s total includes fundraising he did for the Democratic National Committee, as opposed to GOP candidates’ totals, which are amounts raised solely for their campaign.

To offer a more accurate comparison, you would have to toss in the totals for the RNC, which raised $6 million in April and $6 million in May. The RNC’s June total is not yet known.

Is Obama ahead in fundraising? Yes, and probably by quite a bit. But the comparison is not Obama and the DNC’s $86 million against Romney’s $18.3 million. The comparison is Obama and the DNC’s $86 million against Romney [or your preferred candidate] + $12 million for the RNC in April and May + the RNC’s June total. Will Obama still be comfortably ahead? Of course. And he probably should be, considering how he’s an incumbent president who has hit the fundraising trail with a fast and furious pace.

But again, to match his $750 million from the 2008 cycle, Obama would need to average $107 million for seven quarters. Obviously, hit is possible that Obama can make up ground in the next few quarters. But to hit that hyped $1 billion number, Obama would need to raise a bit more than $142 million per quarter. As impressive as the $86 million figure is, it’s below those markers.

And that’s not even getting into the millions that will be spent by outside groups.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin’s campaign costs are close zero, thanks to the astute use of Twitter, Facebook and a movie.
I really don’t believe that money will be the determining factor in the campaign. Wise use of available dollars (such as Palin’s methods) may hold a far greater appeal to the public, especially in these times. If she can come up with creative solutions like that which cost little or nothing, think of what ideas might come forth in policies.

Make the moron and his millionaire minions spend every dime.

Let us not forget, Ohaha announced he was the going to be "the first billion dollar presidential candidate." Now, he doesn't actually have to raise that amount---he's got zillions stashed away offshore. He merely had to wire-transfer some of it incrementally. He figured by now, the campaign dollars would be rolling in like they did in 2008---and all he had to do was get names to list on the FEC reports. That ain't happening---so its onward to Plan B---what to do if the campaign money is NOT flowing in.

2008 Obama duped Christian voters into voting for him. Now 2012 Obama needs to convince Christians that (A) he’s a lifelong Christian, (B) he is not the most extreme Democrat on social issues, such as abortion, and, (C) he does not support the homosexual agenda.

In 2008, Obama swore he was not for same sex marriage---but he has done everything possible to promote the homo agenda.

Obama appointed czar Kevin Jennings, founder of the pro-homosexual GLSEN organization, "to oversee safe schools" programs. Jennings was involved in the 2000 "Fistgate" scandal in which homosexual adults at a GLSEN youth workshop "guided young teens on how to engage in sexual perversions, including the violent gay practice known as "fisting." Obama is so desperate he's invoking religious themes as 2012 nears.

"When I wake in the morning, I wait on the Lord, and I ask Him to give me the strength to do right by our country and its people," Obama said. "And when I go to bed at night, I wait on the Lord, and I ask Him to forgive me my sins, and look after my family and the American people, and make me an instrument of His will." more at Wash/Ex.com

to be a valid comparison, you would be counting the total raised by all GOP presidential candidates plus the RNC money and compare it to obama’s treasure chest plus the DNC money.

Silly article. Everyone’s fund raising will be short of the 2008 campaign. Less money exists in the US than existed in 2008, post Lehman/Oil Apocalypse.

The posters maybe satire for now-—but with news releases reporting Ohaha is praying for survival-—I may be a prophet in my own time. LOL.

Here's how Obama "Stimulated" the Economy------with run-away spending.

Now the US Treasury and HHS entries must be seen in this context. Ohaha's
then-COS---the power-mad Rahm Emanuel---took control of the US Treasury, took
over the census, and put his brother in charge of Medicare/Aid billions and O/Care
billions. Can you say offshore accounts? Govt fraud? Money laundering? Illegal
conversions of govt monies?

I recently read that Obama has already been tapping his big donors and that he’s fast reaching the limit to how much they will pony up.

Obama is a guy who really plans ahead.

Obama stashed away zillions for his campaign (looted from the US Treasury). All he needs is "contributor names and CV" to cover the FEC requirements.

Remember that when Ohaha got in, his first moves were:

(1) taking over the census and placing it under the jurisdiction of the WH (has all the names and CV he needs),

(2) taking control of the US Treasury, and,

(3) COS Rahm's brother taking charge of Medicare/Aid billions and O/Care billions.

Now we know why.

In 2000, the Financial Action Task Force, a body created in 1989 by the Group of 7 wealthy countries to fight money laundering, listed countries and territories that are money-laundering havens: the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, the Cook Islands, Dominica, Israel, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Panama, the Philippines, Russia, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Switzerland, which has a reputation for jealously guarding banking customers' identities with a numbered system, no longer shields criminal assets and generally cooperates with foreign investigators, United States officials said. It is a member of the group that drew up the list.

Governments of the Financial Action Task Force decided to pressure laundering centers in part because the sheer volume of transactions by drug cartels, mafias and corrupt officials has expanded dramatically, to at least $600 billion a year (as of 2000), United States officials said.
