A public school district in Michigan has used its phone alert system to point voters toward the recall effort against Gov. Rick Snyder. In early June, shortly after the Snyder recall reached the petition-gathering phase, the alert system for Lawrence Public Schools sent out the following robocall to residents of the district:
This is a message from the Lawrence Public Schools (inaudible) alert system. This is an informational item and not directly associated with the school. Concerned parents interested in cuts to education . . . we're here to inform you that there is information about the problem. Also, be advised that there is a petition to recall Governor Snyder. If you want, stop by Chuck Moden's house right by the school June 7th/8th between 3:30 and 4:00 pm. Thank you. Goodbye.

Next they’ll have Obama instant alerts.
That should be a criminal use of public property. I don’t trust election laws as much.
Looks like they’ve run afoul of campaign finance laws.
Your tax dollars at work promoting the communist agenda.

Good luck pressing charges, let alone getting convictions.
They’re DemonRATS.
They’re above the law.
“[W]here there is no law, there is no liberty; and nothing deserves the name of law but that which is certain and universal in its operation upon all the members of the community.”
—Benjamin Rush, letter to David Ramsay, 1788
You might be surprised.
> You might be surprised.
I very much would be.
Your tax dollars at work promoting the communist agenda.

What else would a government school promote? Socialized schooling is the problem. We need to do away with socialized schooling and replace it with a capitalist system where the market can fix the problems.
Why would anyone expect classroom bureaucrats and their union to think and act any differently than any other bureaucrat and his union?
> Socialized schooling
Exaclty.
The “school district” is more correctly understood as a “school collective”.
A cooperative is voluntary.
A collective is not.
“Compulsory Attendance” laws are part of the Prussian Education System promoted by Horace Mann in the 1850s.
The whole-scale adoption of the Prussian Education System in the US during the late 19th and early 20th centuries constituted a rejection of the distributed, Christian-based education model promoted by Noah Webster.
To say the least, this was a big mistake.
It was a minor step to move from the Prussian Education System to the Marxian School Collective, which prevails in the U.S. today.
You’re right on all counts.
More people need to realize that eliminating socialized schooling would be a real blessing to the country.
Incredible.
heads should roll.
Do you remember the name of the guy who called on artists to work to promote Obama?
I smell ACORN!
Even by the widest modern definition of art that can’t even qualify. I could put something like that together in a matter of minutes.
You left off Mitch Daniels.
He was doing all this before it became fashionable.
16 years of Evan Bayh and his successors was mostly wiped away.
