Rush portrayed this as a cave on Dayton’s part, but I think the 15% might have been pretty important.

Gov. Mark Dayton said Thursday morning that he is willing to accept Republicans' June 30 budget offer, which would close a $1.4 billion budget difference by delaying payment of school funds and borrowing against the state's tobacco settlement. It looks like smoke and mirrors to me.

Is Dayton playing the same game as Obama or am I reading too much into this?

First, I don’t see that a deal was closed. Second, the deal the governor is offering is junk.

Congratulations to the Minnesota State GOP. They managed to slow down the runaway train of state government spending at leadt for now. Hopefully they will be able to tighten things up some more in 2 years when the next budget is enacted.
I think this was a case where the shutdown hurt the people in the Democrat districts there than it did those in the Republican districts. Governor Dayton’s position was only going to get weaker if the shutdown lingered.

Anyone want to guess on Dayton’s beer supply????????

The Minnesota government has been shut down for two weeks. State parks have been closed. Drivers haven't been able to renew licenses. The standoff continued until it became apparent that Miller-Coors hadn't been able to renew its permit to sell its brands in the state. When Miller threatened to take away the High Life, the crisis was solved within 24 hours.

...borrowing against the state's tobacco settlement Just like lottery money for education and tobacco money for health costs of smoke these are all just excuses for revenue streams to fund statists drive for largesse.
They play a shell game and the only thing that changes is the ever increasing number of shells.

They can’t cut 15%. That’s a lot of union dues that the Democrats need.

Is it true that the efforts to require I.D. for voting is going to be tossed out of the deal for now?

Anybody that links tobacco settlement payments with solving our very real spending issues is smoking dope. That money has been squandered many times over.
I would like to hear the Tooth Fairy’s take on all this. Now that is reality you can count on.

I think for every % of private workers that are laid off, an equal % of public workers should be laid off...
