Tea party to GOP: We could (will) make 'examples' of you over debt ceiling
cnn ^ | 7/15/2011 | By Shannon Travis

Right now, some Republican lawmakers in Washington may be wondering how to wiggle out from between a rock and a hard place.

On one hand, they're staring at a possible financial nightmare if the nation's debt limit isn't raised. On the other, many are feeling the heat from tea party demands that bluntly warn: Vote against us and suffer political consequences.

To be sure, Democrats are also under pressure from progressive constituencies who are pushing for more revenue in the form of tax increases -- and for them to stand firm against cuts to entitlements such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

But over its 2½-year existence, the tea party movement has placed its banner of less government spending at the center of the national conversation. So many activists are watching who's voting on what, even their conservative supporters in Congress -- and especially putting the squeeze on moderate Republicans.

What they're saying around the country is, "Do not raise the debt ceiling. It's that simple. It's time for Congress to get its fiscal house in order," Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin told CNN. The group is the nation's largest tea party organization.

I have yet to see the debate over less government. I would like to though. Right now it is over not paying off in a few years on Medicare and social security. Welchers suck! But I await the debate over less government.

It is better to take care of problems sooner rather than later as few problems fix themselves. An ounce of prevention is still worth more than a poiund of cure, especially Gubmint cure. Most of the folks in my neck of the woods say that if SHTF, we want it to happen sooner rather than later while we are still able to work or fight.

To paraphrase, “Congressmen, we brought you into the House of Representatives; and we can take you out.”

I don’t remember any of these new congresscritters who campaigned for tea party votes saying “If elected I’ll take the easy way out and not do anything that will cause me any personal stress.”

They didn’t campaign on that and they better not act like that.

It’s sad when doing the right thing is about 10th on the list of things to be considered by these people.

Remember Scott Brown? The TP don’t want to get burned anymore and thrown under the bus, so it’s always a good thing to push forward. The TP also has to content with Soros-backed orgs.

All I wanna know is ... where is this all going to go? Who will “win” within the GOP? Guess we’ll know by Monday.

This is actually good reporting by CNN. I’m actually starting to have SOME respect for CNN, when you pair this up with their leadership on the Weiner thing.
