I have met people like your son's father in law. The first words out of their mouths was a destructive insult that never, in a million years of being nice, could be over come. How sad.

The most recent comment I received like that was a couple of years ago in New Zealand, when Bush was still in office. A man I met, before saying hello, nice to meet you, said “how could you have elected such a moron as Bush?” He never was able to get on my good side after that.

I cant get on here all the time but I try to have your back. Keep posting these Perry threads because he’s a viable candidate and a good candidate. He has a record of accomplishment that blows every other Republican candidate out of the water. He has the right enemies.

Someone challenged me on the “Rove switched Perry to Republican

Hahaha I guess that would be me.

Since I'd recently read that Phil Gramm had that role, I politely asked if you had a source for your belief it was Rove. Thanks for looking it up.

Didn't know I had issued a "challenge". :-)

Yes, I do know that the depression of 1837 was a major contributor to the start of the civil war. The unions, even back then, had run up the price of manufactured goods in the north so high nobody wanted to buy their products and they were going bankrupt. The south quit buying and started importing cheaper goods. That’s why the north decided to up the tariffs on imported goods, to force the south to buy. Much like we are facing TODAY with our government trying to force union labor on right-to-work states.

Pssst, we didn’t stupidly START a war. We seceded and told the north to go peddle their peanuts somewhere else, PEACEFULLY, I might add. Shame isn’t it, Lincoln decided he still owned Fort Sumpter in South Carolina and got his soldiers butts shot up in the process, isn’t it?

And yes, I knew that Indiana ‘boys’ helped raze the south and were the many carpetbaggers who stole property from women and orphans in the south during their ‘spiritual revenge’...and yes, I know, even the so-called democrats in Indiana are rather conservative. However my son’s bigoted father-in-law is a staunch republican. Actually even the corn in Indiana has its origins from MesoAmerica. We don’t eat grits down here in the Southwest, we prefer hashbrowns.

I didn’t know about the endowment business at IU, however I do know you can get a PHD at UT for about $10,000. And that when my grandson who is in the 98% of achievement in scholastic abilities in the US applied to his grandfathers alma matar in Indiana with all of his scholarship money would STILL would wind up owing about $60,000. He also applied to my alma matar and would wind up owing less than half that as he qualified for a McCombs endowment scholarship. And I wasn’t startled at all.

Oh yeah, I really really don’t like Rick Perry at all.

Actually, I’m just cutting and pasting links about gay rumors. I don’t know what’s true about that. I’m just posting links.

I don’t trust the truth of your Perry “facts”. I just am comfortable giving my links. You don’t see me saying much about Perry, I really just give my links and let people make up their own mind. Often the links are to Free Republic threads where we were discussing those matters at the time.

Listen, Karl Rove brought Rick Perry over to the Republican Party. I don’t care who he’s pretending to like this week.
I don’t trust Karl Rove at all. I will not support anyone Karl Rove has worked for. It’s time for Karl to go.

I post links, good solid links, to Free Republic threads and other threads with good solid information that people haven’t seen. I personally don’t want to see an endless flood of Perry posts. You can look at those old threads and see what Free Republic thinks about Rick Perry.

Quit trolling Perry threads. You recently accused me of making personal attacks on you, but you have insulted Perry supporters as stupid and some of your comments about Southerners is unnecessary and mocking. Go back and promote whatever candidate you support.

By the way, the Koreans you proclaim to have better math SAT scores than Southerners (which is what you imply), those Southerners grandparents were saving those Koreans asses from their brothers to the north and dying in the process. My grandfather was in Korea to risk his ass for those ungrateful wretches who would be eating soylent green if it wasn't for the USA and many Southerners who protected their ass and do to this day.

By the way, get the term RINO right. Using liberal tactics to change meanings of words again. You think you're a great intellect, I can tell by your post you are not, it's laughable.

well it kinda is. I’d call what I do to some people some times a challenge. I know what kind of facts they’re going to give me when I ask them clarify statements they make about Ron Paul.

Much of what people say about Ron Paul is made up. Or, it’s one of many possible interpretations of a statement. And I ask for the original statement, and explain how what Ron Paul said did not mean what they say he meant. I challenge them to prove Ron Paul said that.

You mean the point of this article isn’t whether or not Confederates are racists? Or whether to credit Rove with someone’s decision twenty years ago to change parties? < /sarc>

Good post!

Oh, really? Seems I remember people getting a holiday every year in February for Washington’s birthday because he was the first and a founder, Lincoln wasn’t. Prior to 1968, I worked in the private sector and we didn’t even get Washington’s BD off. We didn’t even get Good Friday off to recognize the crucifixion. We just got a paid day off on July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas. After 1968 and 1971 or so, when I went to work for the state, we always got President’s Day off. Which I liked because usually it fell around my birthday. IN the dark ages when I was in public school, I don’t remember getting anybody’s birthday off. And we certainly didn’t get spring break.

What ever floats your boat. I have never brought up the "Indiana Klan." Wouldn't know it from Adam.

Capice?

I started school and went through my elementery grades in various schools in the panhandle of Texas.
On Washington’s birthday we spent most of the day it seems
going over his role in the birth of our country.
About the only mention of Lincoln I remember was during regular US history classes. Of course this was
way back beore tv even. And we got Good Friday off every year even through my high school years.
And we not only had US history, we studied world history as well as Texas history. I don’t think that’s true anymore.

Look, you are probably right. But you are now getting muddy and your argument is losing credibility and focus by calling someone a troll who doesn't agree with you.

And why I haven't ever done it before. I had someone come on a thread I posted yesterday call another poster a "troll." So I asked them, "What is the definition of that slur?"

The poster wrote back and said:

Troll: One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

I have had about 5 or 6 of these TROLLS doing exactly that on every Perry thread I've posted for the last month.

So for effect and demonstration I USED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY.

And you choose to blast me for it.

Amazing.

lol...I didn’t mean to run off on this tangent and distract from the article.

The point is that we have to be ever vigilant of the liberal lies that will be leveled at WHATEVER candidate we select.

This election, if our country is going to recover, has to be purged of the tax and spend commiecrats in congress MOST IMPORTANTLY, and in our White House whose policies are destructive both domestically and internationally.

To do that we are going to have to expose every one of their lies, no matter how insignificant.

I was in the Hill Country in a small community populated with farmers of German descent, many devout Catholics. Seems I do remember the school allowing 1/2 day off for those attending church services on Good Friday. Most of the German kids did take the afternoon of attend high mass. Our services were usually candlelight services in the evening so the protestant kids stayed in school.

Yes, we also were required to take so many units of Texas, US, and World History. But our school was small and we only had one history teacher for grades 6-12. He fought in WWII with General Patton and at one time I could quote you every glorious battle because that’s mostly all we heard as we sat in history classes. I didn’t run into any real history classes until college.

I wasn’t talking about you. I don’t really post a lot on Perry threads. You might think so. But I’m on Paul threads and Palin threads and Bachmann threads, and all the other candidates threads pretty much. And I was just explaining to texas that I often have to do that. And I do. We were talking about the word “challenge”

Using the Democrat Party strategy of criticizing anyone who speaks against Obama, I declare that anyone who speaks against the Sons of Confederate Veterans is a racist. The following are some notable black SCV members, along with a little black Confederate history.

Black SCV member Nelson W. Winbush:

Besides, why would any patriotic American want to criticize official U.S. war veterans, such as the soldiers and sailors of the Confederate Army and Navy. The U.S. Code, Title 38, Section 1501 states: “The term ‘‘Civil War veteran’’ includes a person who served in the military or naval forces of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, and the term ‘‘active military or naval service’’ includes active service in those forces.

BTW, if you know of any Confederate grave site that does not contain a marker, the Veterans Administration will provide a free marker. The U.S. Code, Title 38, Section 2306 states that the government shall furnish, when requested, appropriate government headstones or markers at the expense of the United States for the unmarked graves of soldiers of the Union and Confederate Armies of the Civil War.

From the SCV Blog: “Confederate Soldiers are American Veterans”:

(be sure to read the section on Prof. Henry Louis Gates, about half-way down)

A few years ago, the SCV laid a plaque at my g-grandfathers grave. It was a very impressive and beautiful ceremony, complete with horses, period costumes, a 21 gun salute, and several different Confederate battle flags I’d never seen before.
