As the Beltway politicians try to figure out how they will raise the debt ceiling and for how long, most voters oppose including tax hikes in the deal.
Just 34% think a tax hike should be included in any legislation to raise the debt ceiling...55% disagree and say it should not.

Does this mean congressional Republicans will throw out their surrender (no cut) plan and demand that spending cuts be in the extension bill? If they got Obama to sign that they would do well in 2012. It only counts if you win not surrender.

You are right the problem is 48% pay no federal income taxes.
I would say that 80-90% of the support for higher taxes comes from this segment.

There are a good number of people who live off a government check and don’t work for it.
The taxes they “pay” are with other peoples money, not their own. Therefore THEY pay no taxes.
Not paying federal income taxes isn’t a problem. Some people are raising the next generation of children and shouldn’t be paying anything out of a $35,000 income. To be fair, all workers pay the SS tax and if they are self employed pay a double share. This is a regressive income tax. The lower income earners pay a higher rate than high income earners.

He is, always has been and always will be a liar. Anyone who is running against him next yr. needs to just outright call him that word “LIAR” because he is. There is no way it can be tolerated to let the media and him create the fiction they do on a daily basis thinking and knowing that just about every Republican will not say the word and will not call him out on all the dishonest things and unConstitional actions he’s taking.
