NY Times: White House declines to deny Obama lied about his mother

In other words, Obama lied in order to make a political point.
The early death of the president’s mother was a tragedy for her family, but Obama’s manipulation of the narrative about her life was utterly unscrupulous. While her battle for disability coverage probably was stressful, that has nothing to do with her son’s subsequent efforts to impose a government health care plan on the nation. Moreover, it should also be pointed out the president is in no position to claim his untrue account of his mother’s problems was the result of a misunderstanding about a matter in which he was not involved. According to Scott, the correspondence says his mother referred to her son as her attorney in these matters.
For those with short memories, it’s important to recall that Obama has used this story repeatedly, including during one of the presidential debates with opponent John McCain. During that debate he said:
For my mother to die of cancer at the age of 53 and have to spend the last months of her life in the hospital room arguing with insurance companies because they’re saying that this may be a pre-existing condition and they don’t have to pay her treatment, there’s something fundamentally wrong about that.

Those aren't exactly "new" lies, just a new liar telling them. I remember similar lies being told about Eisenhower and republicans in general, that's as far back as my personal, political memory goes, I'm sure that those lies go back even further than that.
Wow! This is the final straw that is gonna make the Liberals and the mainstream media turn on him and assure his defeat in 2012.

Actually…he’ll be turning 50 in three weeks. His birthday is August 4, two days after the debt ceiling deadline. Senior moment?

In acknowledgement of the President’s landmark 50th birthday, the St Louis Tea Party Coalition has announced they will be throwing a “Tea Party for Obama” Rally. The event will take place on President Obama’s actual birthday, August 4th, from 6-8 pm at Keiner Plaza in downtown St. Louis.
President Obama has been formally invited as the keynote speaker, along with a host of several celebrity speakers across the political spectrum. “The point is to unite as Americans” explained St Louis Tea Party Coalition Co-Founder Bill Hennessy. The organization will be providing birthday cake at the event, and a special musical guest will lead participants in singing “Happy Birthday” to the President.

When your entire life is based on lies, it's hard to keep them straight sometimes.
“What other parts of his life has Obama lied about?” And that is a HUGE can o’ worms.
Well we can assume “Dreams from my Father” is one huge lie. Ironically, his supporters treat it like the Bible.

That he was unaware of GE's not paying taxes... that Van Jones and many of his other czars have marxist leanings... that Tony Rezko in Chicago (from whom he bought real estate at far under market value) was a career criminal... etc etc etc.

Let pretend he isn’t lying about his knowledge or lack of knowledge of the mentioned subjects. Why would anyone want such an oblivious President? I was always taught, that ignorance was never excuse for problems when your in a position of authority and responsibility. I really wonder why the media tries to play just as ignorant/oblivious as Obama is pretending to be. Why do so many people have such low standards for their leaders? Nothing good will ever come from embracing such people for leaders, other than reviewing the lessons learned from the destruction created for such poor decisions. Obama lacks, tact, integrity, and courage, and it is obvious to anyone who has ever taken a lesson in basic leadership principles (which is nearly the entire military).
Obama lying isn’t even news anymore .. it is expected.
