The Christians among us already know that the papacy is the second of three eventual fulfillments of the prophecies regarding the Antichrist. That has been known for close to 5 centuries.
Credible scholars are inclined to believe that the third, and final fulfillment will also rise out of the papacy, although this is far from a universal belief, but Benedict has indicated that he may share that belief, and that he thinks his immediate successor may be that individual.
