"What would have taken months and cost millions, ARC did in weeks with virtually no traditional media advertising"

Wider national rollout to commence in the coming weeks

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ARC Entertainment, the distributor of "The Undefeated," the film about Gov. Sarah Palin's rise from obscurity to national prominence, announced today that through Saturday night the film had a stronger opening than expected with the large markets trending towards weekend per screen averages above $10,000 driven by multiple sold-out runs. The film had accumulated approximately $5,000 per screen through Saturday night. Unique in the theatrical feature world, "The Undefeated" was rushed to select digital theatres in only 3 weeks, and was marketed almost entirely through social media and grass roots efforts, with virtually no traditional media spend. With the strong initial showing, the film is going to a wider release footprint later this month, with details being announced soon.

"We are extremely pleased with the audience reaction, which has been over-the-top enthusiastic and very passionate, including standing ovations at most screenings," said Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of ARC Entertainment, the film's distributor. "We expect word-of-mouth to keep ticket sales strong and we will definitely expand the film to a wider national audience. With merely three weeks of preparation and a virtually non-existent traditional advertising spend, the film did exceptionally well. " .

"We have been told the theaters in Phoenix, Atlanta,

Over the weekend reports also documented the strong ticket sales and enthusiastic audience reaction. Reuters reported, "It may not be 'Harry Potter,' but another film featuring a bespectacled protagonist is racking up strong pre-sales before its national roll-out this weekend." AOL's Patch reported,"

Impossible. The worthless scum that trolls FR said that the per-screen average wasn’t good at all. And then they proceeded to insult everyone and claim that they were just using ‘arithmetic’ and got ‘attacked’ by those mean awful Palin supporters for it.

It was so long ago, about a year ago that some PDS FReeper troll said that “Sarah Palin is an enemy of America”

It’s a shame ARC has to depend on PRN, a worthless, news whoring outfit, to get the news out.

Yep, Polybius must be weeping hard over the latest numbers now after all but declaring the film a flop.

The key to victory in the culture wars has been discovered in the last six months, and (for a select few who have learned how to execute it) it is being carried out as we speak.

(Look for bussed-in assorted street-level dem operatives to try to physically prevent people from seeing the movie soon, since the smear campaign has apparently failed.)

Cheers!

OK, When is it coming here? Sarah Palin launched the mcCain Palin campaign at a street rally in Cedarburg, WI 2 days after she was nominated in MN in 2008. Her platform was in front of our restored theater. Thousands of people stood in the street for hours to cheer her. It would be neat if Undefeated were to play in that very same theater — the rivoli — which is operated and staffed by community volunteers.

10 theaters.

That is what the post said. That renders the per-screen pretty useless.

10 theaters is meaningless — statistically and otherwise.

yes, it is arithmetic and yes, even on another thread you attack the facts that penetrate your perception.

Note I said nothing bad about you nor Gov. Palin but you have no problem with calling me a “Troll.” You also say I insulted everyone: I again challenge you to point to a single post where I insulted anyone. I DARE you to do so. If you cannot, then we know what people are who post things that cannot be backed up, don’t we?

Truth is a harsh mistress.

Couldn't have been THAT useless...

With the strong initial showing, the film is going to a wider release footprint later this month, with details being announced soon.

Based on the useless per-screen showing, they will be expanding the documentary into even MORE theaters...

I'm anxious to see this now, but wonder if the timing later in the year may benefit Sarah's candidacy.

After leftist attempts to suppress the movie, it would be interesting if it led the way for a Palin draft by acclimation.

It would be interesting if Sarah was waiting for a wider section of Americans to ask her to run, when they get to know her rather than the MSM propaganda image of her.

Undefeated is a “Cult of Personality” film that I could never understand why made.

Then, you go around feigning a victim routine about how you were 'attacked' for 'arithmetic'.

Yeah, that's some pretty strong arithmetic there, pal, and it adds up to a troll. Period.

The per-theater-average is a perfectly viable metric to use to judge the popularity of a film. It is used specifically for cases like The Undefeated to measure them against movies in wide release. Your argument about number of theaters is moronic and shows either intellectual dishonesty or a shocking knowledge deficit on your part.

Hundreds of movies every year open in only one or two theaters and make a fraction of the amount The Undefeated did, because nobody is interested in seeing them. You may not like the truth, but that is the truth.

The truth is for a movie to open to these kind of per screen averages with zero major media campaign and only free word of mouth/social media promotion, is remarkable. If you were anything other than a troll, you wouldn't need to be told this.

Truth is a harsh mistress.

Indeed it can be. Too bad you wouldn't know the truth if it crawled up your wizwag and pitched a tent there.

There is a little something there but I haven’t read anything that says that the per screen average would somehow translate to a wider release. If I missed it, I apologize.

Usually the release strategy is planned well in advance, although there are checkpoints and decisions along the way.

But this is an unusual film and there may be something else there...

But a good per screen average for 10 screens on a subject so dear (I could use stronger words) to its target audience should not have been a surprise to anyone.

And I still don’t understand why this film was made. Gov. Palin’s supporters will support her, her detractors detract, the HUGE gap between that won’t drop $40+ for a night out to see what it is about.

Straight to DVD — maybe...

BTM, Few people take the time to really examine what she has accomplished, or what the future really holds for her. The reaction to the movie is an indication of the fervor that more than a handful of people have for her coming candidacy. You cannot underestimate what a few dedicated people can do in elections. Most candidates have some support, some have candidates have the facade of legions. But the legionaires can usually only count on paid volunteers to actually do anything of value. Sarah’s support is wide, and deep, and that tsunami will appear soon.
