All over America, restlessness and frustration are growing. It has now been almost three years since the great financial crash of 2008, and yet the U.S. economy is still a complete and total mess.

In fact, there are all sorts of signs that things are about to get even worse, and the American people are just about fed up.
Virtually every major poll, survey and measure of consumer confidence shows that the American people are becoming more pessimistic about the economy.
Millions of hard working Americans that worked their fingers to the bone for their employers and that did everything "right" are sitting at home on their couches tonight staring blankly at the television. Many of them still have a hard time believing that they were laid off and that there is nobody out there that wants to give them a good job.
There are millions of other Americans that won't get much sleep tonight because they will spend much of the night rolling around in bed wondering how they are possibly going to be able to pay the mortgage. We have never faced such an extended economic downturn in modern U.S. history, and a lot of people are starting to freak out about the condition of the economy. As Gerald Celente likes to say: "When people lose everything and have nothing left to lose - they lose it."

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
People are selling off the family china and anything else of value. I’ve seen it.
McConnell was dead right about one thing. As long as Obama is in the White House this problem can not be solved.
I don’t think people should be worried, The President will print more money to fix the problems we have.
I deal in antiques & nothing is selling. Great time to buy but not to sell. You get little of the real value. If I had the money I would be buying like crazy. I see people losing their homes & just giving up. It is very sad.
I took my mail out of my post office box today and thumbed through it. The person next to me was doing the same. We glanced at each other and with a mutual look of despair exclaimed, “Bills! Bills! Bills!” Our water rates just went up 38%, the electric company is raising rates next month, and the garbage company also sent a rate increase.
My private medical plan goes up about $200 per year; car insurance with a flawless record also goes up some, homeowners too with never a claim in 20 years.
And the weirdest of all, but the government can do things like this, even though the entire county’s property values have plummeted 20-30%, property taxes still go up!
I have 6 months worth of all my future payments of my motorcycle and my auto insurance and the Dishnetwork already saved and sitting in my gun safe, not in the bank.
And I am still just saving every nickel dime and penny for the next winter. I could do some needed home improvement but its being held off until after Sarah Palin takes the oat of office. A lot of things are being put off until Obama leaves office.
I may be a minority with my philosophy but the day he was nominated I swore I would be an anti-consumer as much as possible.
Not to the point of re-using toilet paper but far, far less than normal.
Animal shelters in California are booming.
Young highly adoptable dogs coming in in droves as people relinquish or just turn them loose.
Your not kidding about property taxes (and all the rest) I own a mobile home. Last time I saw the asset value my head near exploded. Not only was it higher than I bought the house for the year before. it was 3 TIMES HIGHER than the home sold for NEW!
Mobile homes do nothing but loose value over the course of their useful lifes. They NEVER go up in value let alone 3 times its value.
I went and fought in and they lowered it the “original” purchase price. Never mind the fact that its 13 years old.
I’ll fight again next year.
I had a phone conversation with a local employment and temp agency this morning. They have an excellent reputation and do very good work. I sent my resume forward because the job advertised on their website looked like it would be a good move for me.
It’s a temp to perm and, according to the recruiter, the only permanent job they have as an account right now. They have a few temps but the recruiter told me that in this economy it’s not worth leaving a permanent job. She also said that five to ten years ago leaving a permanent job to temp might have been a good move for me.
I know the owner’s salary has been touch and go. I would hate to see her close shop. I plan to update with them every six months or so. Until they see an uptick I am pessimistic about the job markets.
Is it "hype"? Is it "real?" A little of both?
My biggest wish would be for Freepers to report in anonymously on this thread as to what they are really seeng and hearing and experiencing at the grassroots these days. It might help to know which state it is in. Also, what people generally in their circles (work, family, friends, apolitical associates) think NOW of Obongo after 2 1/2 years of it.
Farmers families in the mountains in Europe used to use newspaper for toilet paper....hmmm,..... uh....nah.
I see the new thread responses just before my own post now and appreciate those vignettes and stories....heartbreaking in many instances. Keep ‘em coming, gimme the bad news, I can take it. We gotta’ know where we stand as a nation and what is happening to us in real terms as the grassroots everywhere.
A young women robbed a bank in Florida in the last few days - she had her three year old with her....
Here in the Northeast kingdom, the dummies are still happy with Hussain. There are four abandoned homes in a ten minute drive. People are telling me that although there is abandoned properties, they cannot find a decent deal locally. People with debt are feeling the pinch and I am renting to people who have had real estate defaults, not something I usually see.
Leftists are becoming more dogmatic. However in stores people are saying that they are angry and seem to blame Washington and many blame the administraion.
I point out frequently when I am in line to pay for gas that Hussain promised that he would send prices soaring, and he is keeping that promise.
