Gun control at the border
The Sacromento Bee ^ | Jul. 19, 2011 | McClatchy-Tribune News Service

The following editorial appeared in the Los Angeles Times on Sunday, July 17, 2011:

The Obama administration took a concrete step toward curbing the flow of semiautomatic weapons to Mexico last week when it adopted a new regulation mandating the reporting of multiple sales of long guns to federal authorities.

Under the regulation, some 8,500 licensed gun shops in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas will be required to inform the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives when a customer buys more than one semiautomatic that is .22 caliber or greater within a five-day period.

The regulation is a small but significant tool that could help federal authorities keep weapons sold in the United States out of the hands of Mexican gangs and drug cartels. Rather than tracing an AK-47 after it has been recovered from a crime scene, ATF agents may be able to intervene before the weapon is smuggled across the border.

LA Slimes and the Sacto BS, two reasons why the lame stream press is circling the bowl. If this downturn has one salutary effect it will be if it's long enough for the major print media to finally go under. I'd like to be there when Pinch Sultzberger has to explain to his “trust fund” siblings that he's pissed away all their inheritances and they are all going to have to go to work!

McClatchey is an Obama water-carrying Marxist propaganda company.

“Concrete steps” to end guns to Mexico?

I guess McLies are hoping (praying) that the MSM, including themselves, hid the Fast & Furious story.

Only dumbass Liberals could even swallow 1% of this tripe.

Members of the Regime have violated the Arms Export Control Act by trafficking weapons into Mexico and Honduras. But of course, the Sac Bee is thrilled that this new intrusion into our 2nd amendment rights will now change all of that. That is, CHANGE THE SUBJECT, RIGHT BEE??!!!

Obama and Holder need to be removed from office and put on trial for murder.

The applicable word here is "Chutzpah." It doesn't really translate all that well from Yiddish to English, but something close would be, "of all the f*****g unmitigated nerve!" Frankly, that's really not intense enough, but it does demonstrate a perfect example of "projection," as practiced by leftists, where you accuse the "other side" of doing exactly what you're doing. Of course, the leftists know that they're making false accusations, but it does make them feel better.

“ATF agents may be able to intervene before the weapon is smuggled across the border”

they can arrest someone before a crime is committed?
didn’t they make a movie once about such a situation?

I don’t believe for a minute that a meaningful number of guns for mexican gangs come from U.S. gun shops. I doubt they’re buying semi-auto AR clones. They’re buying fully auto AR’s on the international arms markets.

Also: How can this regulation be legal? Aside from the 2nd amendment of course... what about the fourteenth, and equal protection? I don’t think the feds can call out certain states by name and regulate them differently. There might even be an argument that this is a Bill of Attainder.

***Rather than tracing an AK-47 after it has been recovered from a crime scene, ATF agents may be able to intervene before the weapon is smuggled across the border.***

They FORGOT to put tracers on most of the guns they sold for smuggling to Mexico. Therefor, they did not manage to locate any of the cartels. And the Won is trying to make it sound as though he “may” be able to stop the smuggling into Mexico. And now, our Resident is trying to make himself look blameless.

It would seem to me that as in 1959 in Cuba, any Mexican Army base is an armory just waiting to either be stormed, as Castro’s thugs did or in Mexico’s case, someone is bribed to hand the guns over.
