Bill Clinton advocates constitutional option on debt ceiling
Former President Bill Clinton said Monday he wouldn't hesitate to raise the debt ceiling without congressional approval--a fraught political course that President Obama has been reluctant to follow as he seeks to broker a deal on spending with Republican leaders.
Clinton told The National Memo he would invoke the constitutional option "without hesitation, and force the courts to stop [him]" if Congress and the White House fail to reach an agreement to raise the debt ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline when the U.S. Treasury says the government will begin to default on its debts.
That's much stronger language than anything we've heard from the sitting president during the grinding debate over whether and how the debt ceiling can be raised. Some legal thinkers--including, quite clearly, Clinton himself--take the view that the Constitution grants the president the authority to raise the limit by executive order without Congress's approval. The Fourteenth Amendment states: "the validity of the public debt of the United States ... shall not be questioned."

So disregarding the Constitution and doing what you want is the “Contitutional Option”?
Sounds more like dictatorship.
Actually it is the unconstitutional option. The very words in section 5:
>Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.<
Kind of gives a clue to who has the power to enforce amendment 14. Don’t think the executive branch is mentioned in section 5. Maybe I’m just not a constitutional scholar.

Let's remember that hge abd his harridan of a wife who stole the American people's property from the White House and had to be chased down to give it back.
There is no way and no how the Dems will test this during the current sitting court. It is too great a chance that the Supremes will strike this down.
They’ll suck it up and wait until they get a favourable court and then get the court to strike a precedence so they can use that forever more.
We are talking about a guy who used the phrase, “it depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is”. He would not be above misreading the constitution.

It is everything that I would expect from someone trying to get his wife into the white house by suggesting Obama should violate the laws of the constitution.
Obama does that and he will never see the democrat convention.
He could do that but it still doesn’t give him the power to raise taxes and that is what he is after.

Hey, that’s right! Billy Blyth the Sink Emperor is the ONLY Presidente to actually be impeached. The attempt to impeach Andrew Johnson failed by a single vote IIRC.
