Rick Perry For President? Meet 24 Billionaires Who've Backed Him
Forbes ^ | July 20, 2011 | Clare O'Connor

In a federal race like the presidency, each donor can only give $2,500 per candidate. However, there's nothing stopping powerful 'bundlers' from collecting checks from their rich friends. President Obama is already taking advantage of these super - donors: billionaire Democrats including Penny Pritzker and Marc Benioff have already raised hundreds of thousands for the reelection campaign. Perry must be hoping his past billionaire donors will do the same. Per Texas state disclosure records:

You are partly correct, but most of Texas’ recent growth is because of Perry and his pro-business policies. Texas has gained more in the last 11 years of Perry's excellent Governorship than all the others.

And that fact cannot be denied or demagogued.

So you would rather have an Obama second term. Noted. And when did having lots of money suddenly become a bad thing. Honestly, some of the posts here sound like DU.

The same thing happened in 2008. Only much worse and very nasty. This is the best they can do against Perry or Bachmann, since there is not much for them to nitpick on.

The personal attacks are about the same, but some of us old timers have grown thick skins and it bounces off.

Rick Perry is a solid and stable Military man. And those who fall into his category, have integrity and honor. That fact cannot be lied about or covered up. It always wins against bias or propaganda.

I am pretty familiar with Harold Simmons having known who he was due to my uncle's business in Texas when I was a boy 45 years ago....and just keeping up.

Harold Simmons himself is a fairly serious right wing Texan who has funded some political endeavors that helped us.

His daughters are off the reservation and are the beneficiaries of several large trusts-foundations he set up for them when they were kids or young adults and he has had public feuds and legal action including some cloak and dagger type stuff with them given how his views sharply diverge with at least two of the three girls.

This happens so much....look at Ford and Rockefeller and Carnegie and so forth and how their money is now used in ways so in conflict with the known attitudes of the one who earned the money.

Anyone future titans here with kids beware...leave stewardship in firm hands with editorial control.

my point being ...a number of his Foundations are run by his wayward daughters...not much he can do about it...but he has tried...even some attempted illegal ways I think...false docs and stuff

Simmons...God love him...has bigger problems than stupid offspring who likely married equally stupid hipsters..his businesses have lost half their market value..he's down to around 4-5 billion..sux

RINO Perry wants to be connected to him its fine with me. I’m not the one with the anchor around my neck.

Just to be clear, you will vote for Rick over Obama?

You purists are making the word “RINO” as meaningless as liberals have made the word “racist”.

Purists. LOL

I’m guessing this means Palin supporters are now pushing for “Centrism”. Apparently McCain wasn’t a fluke.

I’ll vote for neither. Instead, I’ll write in Sarah Palin’s name and then go home and sleep soundly and with a clear conscious. The country will elect the President it deserves and the corrupt GOP can go to hell.

...I am on record here repeatedly being suspect of...Perry......unless he’s only choice against Bra

Turning “conservative” at 41 as late as 89/90 strikes me as demographic conversion not of the heart

I left libertarian liberalism around age 23 in 1980

And if Sarah endorses Rick? If he is good enough for her, why isn’t he good enough for you?

My support has to be earned and is not instantly transferable, and there is nothing in Perry's past record that warrants my support of him. He's for Open Borders, Guest Workers, No Child Left Behind, and In-State Tuition for Illegals. And he behaved abominably during the Trans-Texas Corridor and Gardensil debates.

Even if Sarah endorses him, that is a BIG no sale for me, and I am not alone in my opinion.

Absolutely not!

If Sarah Palin is that depraved, we are toast, and probably have no reasonable choices.

I’m honest and attempting to connect Palin to RINO Rick will be her political end.

Nothing viscous about it, just a simple fact.

I’d vote for Perry, but I don’t trust him. My second choice is Santorum, no matter if Sarah endoses Perry or not. We’ll not have to worry about that.
