Gov. Deval Patrick showed up unexpectedly at a hearing today to urge lawmakers to pass legislation that would make certain undocumented immigrants eligible to pay in-state tuition rates at public colleges and universities, cautioning legislators against be caught up in the hyperbole of immigration.
