A slew of organizations funded by billionaire George Soros have been utilizing the alleged News of the World phone hacking scandal in the U.K. to call for investigations of News Corporation's U.S. interests, particularly Fox News Channel.
The Center for American Progress, heavily financed by Soros, said it gathered 12,000 signatures demanding to know whether News Corp. reporters violated U.S. law by obtaining phone records in the U.S.
The center is reportedly highly influential in helping to craft White House policy. It is led by John Podesta, who served as co-chairman of Obama's presidential transition team.
Podesta this week told reporters his group wants the U.S. division of News Corp. probed for other possible offenses, including violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prosecutes for bribery of foreign officials.
"We've called attention to the fact that – News Corp. is a U.S.-based corporation; that could implicate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act," he said.
Already, Podesta's signature drive was cited in part for Democratic Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Barbara Boxer sending a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting an investigation into claims News Corp. may have hacked the phones of 9/11 victims.
The center's offshoot, Think Progress, has been leading Twitter and Facebook campaigns calling for investigations into Rupert Murdoch's U.S. media empire.

The DOJ is preparing subpoenas for the Murdochs, but they can’t get around to looking into the ATF’s gun-running operation for the Mexican drug cartels. After all, getting Fox News shut down before the 2012 election is much more important than whether our government broke the laws of several countries with illegal gun sales.
This guy needs to be room temperature.
His sin is that he makes profit from news. You are supposed to do news to save the world.
Had a feeling this was where all the anti-Murdoch info/animosity was coming from. The whole scenario is like a nasty movie. Soros has planted all the right seeds. Only a miracle will save Mr. Murdoch.
The same might be said for all the people employed by The Center for American Progress

Fox News, while never the Republican/conservative mouthpiece the left constantly claims, does offer a platform for dissent against the left, their politicians and their policies. Fox News huge ratings reflect that the cable network is giving people what they want: balance. This is why they are a target for the left. As Ann Coulter termed it, "The left hates Fox News with the heat of a thousand suns". I seriously doubt that there is any scandal to find here and that this nonsense will be seen for the hit job it is. I'm sure the Democrats will have their meaningless hearings on Fox News alleged, possible wrongdoings but in the end, it will all come to nothing, as usual. Fox News will survive and prosper. Rupert Murdoch will continue to make money and George Soros will do the same. Eventually, both men will die. Only one will be mourned.
In short, no coverup; rather an all out attack on the sacred cows that have been given a pass up to now by the Leftists in the media on both sides of the Atlantic.
This needs to start now, before they succeed in undermining his ability to fight back.
And by entire, I specifically would include the movie studio. A feature with the bad guys actually the bad guys--rather than the usual decent people who get smeared in Hollywood. Imagine a movie with Obama pictured as we see him, not as Chris Mathews drools over him!

Perhaps I’ve inadvertantly put on a tin foil hat but...I was in Europe when this story broke and the coverage was non-stop although not a lot of specific details. I knew liberals were salivating ....they want to take down FNC at any cost. One of my first thoughts was Soros was behind this.....wondered if he perhaps put someone up to hacking then expose story. Heard person who exposed story was found dead ...?suicide...or could he have been eliminated so he would never identify those at the root of the issue. I may have gone over the edge or I’m thinking like the ‘other’ side......both are scary.

Is this why O'Reilly is sucking up to Obama? Trying to find a job with him when Fox gets shut down?

Murdoch has found a huge untapped market.
We used to call it “the silent majority”.
Whether he services it or others the market still exists.
It will not go untapped.
