Bryan Stow tries to give 'thumbs up' to medical staff

The family of beaten San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow says he took a “step forward” Friday when he mouthed his last name and maybe even tried to give a thumbs-up to medical staff.

Stow’s family said in a blog post that the father of two was “very alert” Friday morning, when a nurse, nurse practitioner and neurosurgeon witnessed the gestures.

The news comes less than a week after Stow had a 30-second seizure and underwent emergency surgery for fluid buildup in his head.

Stow, a Santa Clara County paramedic, suffered serious brain injuries after he was attacked in March after the Dodgers’ home opener. He has remained hospitalized and heavily sedated since.

Why would any fan want to attend one of these baseball games if they can’t keep any better order than to allow a mob to half beat to death another fan?

This has become a flash point among other problems for the Dodgers. Increasing numbers of gang banger types have been going to Dodger Stadium, causing trouble, intimidating people, and just in general poisoning the atmosphere there. Supposedly the Dodgers were going to increase security; don’t know if that happened. Dodgers attendance is way down this year, due in part to concerns about fan safety.

Hopes and prayers that he makes a good recovery eventually.

The Stow family finally filed a lawsuit versus McCourt and the Dodgers for failure to have security in place. In fact, the position of head of security was VACANT as of opening day, when this beating occurred. McCourt has been a curse on this town and he takes a heaping share of the blame for this attack, imo, and every other problem that has resulted from his gross mismanagement.

“The charges filed on Friday against Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, were announced by Police Chief Charlie Beck as he exonerated a man initially named as the prime suspect.

...The complaint alleged both men personally inflicted great bodily injury on Stow, ‘causing him to become comatose due to brain injury and to suffer paralysis.’ The mayhem count alleged that they ‘did cut and disable the tongue, and put out an eye and slit (Stow’s) nose, ear and lip.’”

I’m so glad they caught the real perps this time.
