Romney wins, Perry strong write-in at Ohio GOP straw poll
Politico ^ | July 22, 2011 | Maggie Haberman

An Ohio Republican Party official sent over results from the party's presidential straw poll in a proving-ground swing state, which showed Mitt Romney the clear winner.

Romney, who made the Ames Straw Poll his Holy Grail in 2007 but is bypassing Ames, Florida's Presidency V and all other such contests this cycle, won handily with 25 percent.

Tim Pawlenty, who is fighting his own war for Ames, scored second place, with 16 percent.

But Pawlenty was bunched with the third- and fourth-place finishers, Michele Bachmann (15 percent) candidate Rick Perry (14 percent).

Perry is especially noteworthy, since he has yet to pull the trigger on a campaign, and was a write-in on the ballot, according to party officials.

Ron Paul was fifth, with 9 percent, Herman Cain and Rick Santorum tied at 5 percent, Newt Gingrich got 3 percent and Jon Huntsman, of the named candidates, finished last, at 2 percent.

All other non-Perry write-ins got a total of 6 percent of the 264 ballots cast.

Where’s Sarah in that poll?

It’s like the establishment is trying to ignore the hungry lioness in the corner.

If there’s no Sarah, it’s not a real poll.

I guess she's counted with, "other non-Perry write-ins got a total of 6 percent."

Shoot, Mitt Romney is our next President.

I seriously doubt that. He just has the name recognition and was in Iowa last time around and is still keeping himself in the picture.

Well, the only person that can stop Romney, is Governor Palin, so what do we do?

"We do?"

Isn't that up to her?

Perry's making his move.

LOL. The first comment at the "homecoming" link speaks to that.

I didn’t say he announced.

I said he’s making his move.

And people are following.

Well for crying out loud.

Palin has been making her move for 3 years, and she is the only one that can defeat Mitt Romney.

In the last month alone she has been showing her “moves”.

Herman Cain has an exposure problem, namely having a hard time getting enough. People who have actually heard Cain speak are virtually always impressed with this “nobody.”

The media refuses to cover him. It does not fit the narrative of all conservatives being white racists.
