Senate Votes to Set Aside 'Cut, Cap and Balance' Plan Proposed by House GOP
FOXNEWS ^ | July 22, 2011 | FoxNews.com

Posted on 07/23/2011 4:38:15 AM PDT by Son House

With Friday's vote over, senators quickly moved to vacate the floor. Cars were waiting outside to whisk members to airports to take flights home. Though the Senate was originally scheduled to be in session, Reid, D-Nev., noted that would not be the case and no votes would be taken before Monday afternoon.

Reid said that the session wasn't necessary because Obama and Boehner were working on a compromise measure. He said he understands the plan addresses both taxes and revenue, and therefore must originate in the House, giving the Senate no reason to work.

Another person hot about the talks was Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.. Speaking Friday before the Senate vote, Feinstein expressed her anger about not knowing the numbers of a deal. Feinstein, who rarely loses her cool, said she lost it on Office of Management and Budget Director Jack Lew on Thursday, because Lew would not say whether there was a deal at hand, even though the newspapers were reporting progress.

Feinstein said she would "venture a guess" that about 20 million people in her state benefit from Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and veterans benefits, and they need to know what the coming cuts are.

"I represent a huge state where huge numbers of people are dependent on us," she said. "We always knew what was going on (with Presidents Bush and Clinton). None of that (information) is available to us now, and that's not good. ... It doesn't help you build a team."

“They are trying their best to blame this mess on Republicans, but people are not buying it.”

I hope that’s true, but the polling I’ve been reading from FOX indicates the R’s are getting the blame pretty heavily.

But, there is also polling from FOX that says overwhelmingly Americans do NOT want the ceiling raised, and they want a Balanced Budged Amendment, so it seems to be a bit confusing.

I wonder how the poll questions were asked, and if that had anything to do with the answers.

I caught a clip of Laura Ingraham questioning the conflicting polls as well, while BOR was trying to hammer her that the TEA party has to take a back seat and shut up basically. I could only take a minute or so of the clip, as I felt my blood pressure start to percolate.

“Why should anyone bother to meet with King Barry when the Senate isn’t in session? Just tell Barry that until the Senate is in session, there’s no reason to negotiate anything. Tell him that once the Senate is back in session, the House will resubmit the same bill to the Senate with a new designation and go from there.”

Damn Straight

If he gets a clean approval of bumping up the debt ceiling 2.4 trillion he will be very tough to beat.

All the money/media in the world will not be enough for Obama. He will lose, and he'll lose big. There is no way unemployment will get better in the next year, and as the economic impacts of his fiscal irresponsibility continue to show up and fester, Obama will be embarrassed by the election - IF HE RUNS FOR RE-ELECTION. That's right, you heard it here first. I don't think he'll run.

I’ve been worried about his not running for a while. I’m afraid that Hillary will end up being the nominee. And, after Obama, she will look like a moderate to the party faithful and a lot of independents.....

If this was anything more than a dog and pony show, the House would go home for the summer, since that is the only independent action the House can take without need of approval from Senate or White House.

Diane, when you are spending other people’s money, you should severely limit the number of people dependent upon you.
Now you, alone, are responsible for those dependent folks, as I lost my job

Take your own poll, ask your friends.

Ask the people who are around you who are not your friends.

It will boil down to this.

If you are an Obama supporter you believe the Republicans are at fault. If you are not it will be the Democrats at fault.

The people who support Obama would support a Christian Holocaust if Obama suggested it. I am not exagerating, they are zombies.

Nope! They didn’t consider the bill. They shelved it. Dingy Harry declared the bill “dead”! The vote to shelve was almost along party lines.

So what’s different today? When was the last time the Senate actually worked, WW2? But he IS right, any bill addressing taxes and/or spending MUST constitutionaly orgininate in the House. The House just needs to keep sending the CCB back to the Senate on a daily basis, along with repealing DeathCare and inundating the Senate with mundane bills that require approval.

The House should add a clause that says that senators who vote against CCB will be financially responsible for any deficit accumulated from the time of the introduction of CCB until it finally passes.
