Libya is ready to hold more talks with the United States and with rebels trying to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi, but the Libyan leader will not bow to demands he quit, a government spokesman said.
Moussa Ibrahim said Libyan officials had a "productive dialogue" with U.S. counterparts last week in a rare meeting that followed American recognition of the rebel government that hopes to end Gaddafi's 41-year rule.
"Other meetings in the future ... will help solve Libyan problems," the spokesman told reporters in Tripoli late on Friday. "We are willing to talk to the Americans more."
He said Gaddafi would not leave his position nor Libya.

Gee. Bob Beckel said this would only take about a week. What a military genius.
The one thing more disgusting to behold than unjustified wars of aggression are unjustified wars of aggression which are incompetently executed.
As part of any deal for Gaddafi to leave, he has to agree to pinpoint the coordinates of the Pan Am bomber released by the Brits so we can accelerate his “terminal” illness to its natural conclusion at the tip of a laser guided bomb.
So. I see we are still massacring Libyan civilians to support Al Queda, *cough* uhmm, “rebels” who are also massacring civilians, and we are doing and supporting this massacre in order to prevent Kaddafi from massacring civilians should he maybe, possibly, decide to do so some time in the future.
OK. Got it.
Well, I guess that’s one way to do it. We will just kill them all first. That way, there will be no one left for Kadaffi to kill. Mission accomplished. Take that Kadaffi!
This must be some kind of weird ‘community organizer’ military strategy.
days...not weeks...
