Vermont Senator Wants Obama to Face Primary Challenger
FoxNews.com ^ | July 24, 2011

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said in a radio interview that he's thinking about trying to encourage somebody to run against President Obama in a primary election, claiming the president has drifted toward Republican positions because "no one will stand up to him."

Republicans hardly feel that Obama is on their side. House Speaker John Boehner, after splitting off from White House-led debt talks, said Sunday that they are almost "from two different planets."

But Sanders, an Independent, said Friday that the president is not living up to his campaign commitments on issues like Social Security -- reflecting a concern among some Democrats that Obama is willing to negotiate away changes to entitlements to appease Republicans.

"There are a lot of smart honest, progressive people who I think can be good presidents," he said. "This is an issue ... we are beginning to talk about a little bit."

That’s the issue I just don’t understand.... How does one swear upon a Bible to uphold the Constitution of the United States and run as an avowed socialist? Our forebears knew how to deal with this.

It has a fairly low crime rate for a reason I am not allowed to mention. It’s not PC.

Good points.

I think Obama may be the first president ever elected who had no prior management or executive experience before becoming president.

I think part of Obama’s ongoing problems are that he doesn’t know how to be a leader. He doesn’t know how to be a manager. He doesn’t know how to run an office, or delegate authority. He doesn’t know how to manage and supervise people.

Yep, in many ways he’s an empty suit. It’s sadly amazing that his very first management or executive responsibilities of any kind are in his current job as president of the United States.

Some folks thought Russ Feingold might do this.

Hillary to the rescue????

She recently said she’s leaving as Sec. of State after Obama’s first term, whether he’s re-elected or not. She said she’s worn out and wants to spend time with the family and friends.

Bill even said that Hillary wants to be a grandmother more than she ever wanted to be president.

Unless we think that Hillary would lie, or not accurately state what she really wants to do.

Vermont is full of former New York liberals, however, Vermont also has few of the certain types of people who join gangs and lay waste to our inner cities. So crime may be relatively low due to the lack of those who commit the most crimes. But politically, they have trended away from the old traditional New England conservatism.

I think I know the reason for Vermont having a low crime rate. You’re right, we have to be politically correct and so we can’t talk about that.

There has to be a Kennedy around who's not in rehab to spoil the primary for Jimmy Carter 2.0 just as Fat Ted did for Jimmy Carter 1.0.

I don’t really think there’s anything wrong with pointing out that there’s a disproportionately high crime rate amongst the black community. It’s a commonly known and often-cited fact.

Why yes, yes oblabla is definitely drifting more into the Right and the Republican camp each and every day. Bernie needs to be listened to and well considered to. There have to be better and more progressive candidates that the demorats can nominate than oblabla.

I think Bernie has one heck of an idea and that finding someone much more to the Left of oblabla is a sure fire way to win the election and promote a progressive agenda.

sarcasm way off

For them any cut to the "big three" (SS, Medicare, Medicaid) is a treasonous act worthy of trial and execution.

Though they cheered for the half-a-trillion dollars carved out of Medicare to help fund Obamacare...

And a wonderful dream it`d be! I say separate the 50-mile wide coastal sliver of CA, from just north of SF to the southern reaches of L.A. County packing, too.

I`d heard that too, but I think he`s eyeing Herb Kohl`s senate seat in WI. Early polls showed Feingold winning that one in a walk.

I will say this, Boehner has said it in a Number of His speeches that he and the President are from two different Planets, they have two separate ideologies,THEY are NOT compatible,Period end of Story.
Now I dont know if he Realizes it but that is the Theme that the 2012 election should be about . There is No and never has been this Crap called Bipartisanship, its a Fraud just a Game for those in Washington to Pit US THE Americaan People against each other. So we have to find out if there still is a Majority that still have a Desire for Freedom and Individual Liberty, the Election SHOULD be Framed with that in Mind and YES you DO Question Peoples Patriotism. If we Dont, That will be Redefined and Disappear with all the Common Sense and SHAME which has Gone from the Planet Earth

Bernie sanders is an avowed socialist. He admits it. No mention of this fact in any of the articles I’ve read. He is not an independent.

My thoughts too - how can someone that thinks Obama is too far RIGHT be considered an independent? More of a media hit piece to try to rally the left wing of the dims with built-in rationales in case someone tries to speak the truth. Most of the "news" is like that these days.
