LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A man who confessed to shooting two soldiers outside a military recruiting station in Arkansas struck a plea deal with prosecutors Monday during his trial on murder charges.

Abdulhakim Muhammad pleaded guilty to capital murder and attempted capital murder charges.

His sentence was not immediately announced. Prosecutors went to trial because they sought the death penalty for Muhammad, who was charged with killing Army Pvt. William Andrew Long and attempted capital murder for wounding Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula in 2009.

Arkansas law requires a defendant to be tried if lethal injection is a sentencing option. Prosecutors must withdraw the death penalty to make way for a capital murder guilty plea.

So any murdering scumbag can avoid the death penalty by pleading guilty, no matter how heinous his crime? Who came up with that insanity?

Sounds like there is no choice.

I guess the DA didn’t want to take the chance of getting a jury full of Casey Anthony cousins.

***So any murdering scumbag can avoid the death penalty by pleading guilty, no matter how heinous his crime?***

One of my friends here in Arkansas had a murder in his family. The perp was caught and sentenced to life in at either Cummins or Tucker Prison farms.

She said she didn’t mind him being sent up for life as she knew he would be picking cucumbers in the hot sun all day and getting buttf***d all night!
