House found empty after 7-hour standoff

After a seven-hour standoff Monday, the San Antonio SWAT team entered a house in the 100 block of Harvard Street, on the near West Side, to find it empty.

After witnesses told police that a man had barricaded himself in the house after a disturbance there and that he was armed and appeared intoxicated, police closed nearby streets in the University Park neighborhood.

A woman who was in the house was assaulted by the man but got out safely, police said. Several calls for family disturbances had been recorded at that address, police said.

The man, later identified as Franklin Longoria, 31, apparently left between the time police received the call and when the SWAT team entered the house around 7:30 p.m., according to San Antonio police spokesman Matt Porter.

Longoria has an active family violence warrant for choking, Porter said.

What a shame. 7 hours spent staking out a vacant home.

I at least hope they were able to shoot the family dog while they were there.

House found empty...

While I opened this thread thinking it was "The House...", I was certainly disappointed it wasn't "The Whitehouse..."

How many times have I heard this one. At least three episodes of the old "SWAT" TV program had Hondo and the guys surrounding vacant buildings for the full hour. One time they even surrounded an abandoned Chevy Impala. You can never be too safe.

No problem. Just start kicking in all the neighbors doors until they find someone...anyone to terrorize. Gotta let the dogs run once in a while.
