How about cutting ONE trillion by the end of the year?
That would be a reasonable dent in it anyway.
Most of what is going on anyway is a fight between those who produce and those who take.
The beltway politicians aren't seeing the money, they are seeing their self promoting politics at stake and the "takers" are petrified at the prospect of losing their power base because of this sensible bill to stop the spending.
An era is close to coming to an end!
I think one (or more) of the ratings agencies said that unless there is a spending cut of $4 trillion, it’s downgrade time. Why even Boner is oblivious to this is beyond me.
Agreed. This raise debt ceiling now and cut spending later is just not getting it. Everybody has now wised up to the fact that cuts over 10 years probably means little or no cuts at all.
Apparently it cuts $6 billion in 2012.
Cuts will never happen beyond that.
This is a joke.
I like the current path: do nothing. This cuts $1.65 Trillion by the end of the year.
Boehner's plan cuts $6 billion is all and adds $7 trillion to the debt! Cuts my arse!
How does this get done without entitlement reform?
60% of the budget is entitlements
20% of the budget is defense
We run a 44% deficit. We can eliminate all discretionary spending and we are still down 24%.
“How about cutting ONE trillion by the end of the year?”
Establishment Republicans like Boehner really don’t want to cut. You no doubt remember the spending spree in the early Bush years with both a Republican House and Senate. Boehner, and other establishment types, only cut when absolutely forced to, and then try to minimize the cuts. Making some minor cuts now and then is a branding tool to distinguish them from the Dims, nothing more.
No more omnibus bills. Just kill the beast with a thousand small cuts.
> How about cutting ONE trillion by the end of the year?
Easily done by defunding 0bamao-care.
