My GF is an RN who originally worked in Vancouver, BC. The AIDS ward had only ONE nurse, and no one wanted the shift. Because of her seniority in the union, my GF was able to position herself not to take the shift. It’s the most depressing department and ALL the patients were gays. More depressing than the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s wards.

“More depressing than the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s wards.”

I can’t imagine it being more depressing than Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The majority of the AIDS patients have engaged in risky lifestyles that they know will most likely result in their deaths — and deaths of others. The other groups are there due to twists of fate.
