VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney treated supporters at a fundraiser in Virginia to a sneak peek of his inclinations regarding his vice presidential shortlist should he become the Republican nominee in 2012, according to a new report.

At the Virginia Beach home of State Sen. Jeff McWaters Monday, Romney praised three up-and-coming stars of the GOP, saying his shortlist included Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the Bearing Drift blog reported Tuesday

Two years from the convention and he already has a VP short list. That is Obama level arrogance!

His supporters come from the statist liberal establishment wing of the GOP and among those desperate to win at any cost. He’s seen as “electable” but very few are FOR him. If the establishment could get Christie to run they’d drop Romney. The rest will drop him if they believe there is a more conservative “electable” politician in the race. Romney’s support is very soft.

I thought I saw an interview once where Christie indicated he doesn’t like to play second fiddle.

Thank you!! Thank you for calling him out on this. He has done nothing but hide like a scared little kid during this debate. This is a huge moment and where is Mitt? Nowhere to be found. He wants to slide into the nomination while no one is looking.

Well, Mitt. WE are looking. And no dangling of Christie as a VP choice, or any of your other crap, is going to get us to vote for you. Ever.

And if you go further back, the last North-easterner period to “win” was JFK - 51 years ago.

I count two. For a period totalling 40% of that thirty years. The Bushes sure did not govern like Texans.

At this point all polls are Name Recognition only. Romney has been running for President for five years. Everybody that has a TV has scene him at least once.

He will fade. At least I hope. Icould not vote for him in the primary, but, as usual, would be forced to vote for anybody but Obama.

He did. He’s got a standard line: “Can you see me as somebody’s vice president?” But that is not a clear, definite no, like when asked about the presidency. I hope it doesn’t happen. I want him for two terms.
