New Boehner Version (Cut Cap and Balance it ain't)
NRO ^ | 7/27/11 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 07/27/2011 3:19:03 PM PDT by hatfieldmccoy

We’re hearing it now cuts $917 billion over ten years under the more recent CBO baseline. So under $1 trillion. On the other hand, the cuts are apparently more front-loaded: $20 billion in real cuts in the first year.

Johnson settles for nothing less than the Cap, Cut, and Balance bill he co-sponsored.

Well shit, I would hope so...

it won’t make any difference to replace Boehner....

We only have the HALF OF THE CONGRESS, we don’t have the SENATE or the Presidency. THAT is the reality, Boehner or not.

We can’t do it with just the House... nonetheless, I’m extremely proud of what they have accomplished, and know in my heart that come January 2013, there will be a lot more done. It seems a long time off, and a lot of $$ will be wasted between now and then, but I think we’ve done an excellent job bringing everything to this point. It’s time to get what we can and plan to do it again when we have greater strength in numbers.

And they are not true cuts but decreases in the increase of auto-spending.

Put on the damn brakes man! Then we can turn around.

Yours is a rational , realistic approach....

But why go with reality when you can scream and throw temper tantrums and lose the election in 2012??!ha.

conservatives can NOT win in 2012 without the Independents and they want more than anything else...PRAGMATISM...not revolution, on the right or the left.

Yes our government is deeply, deeply, deeply in debt, but our economy is so dependent on government spending right now that the “cold turkey” approach would lead to immediate crash & burn. I want a federal government that’s 40% smaller. But I don’t expect it overnight, and any movement in the right direction (Boehner) is better than nothing (Obama & Reid).

You have totally missed the point.

The CBO score came in at 850 B. He needed 150 B more to hit his the target of a trillion. He had to redo it. He could have done it for 2012.
He didn’t.

“Bambi is apparently planning to issue an “executive order” to circumvent all of this”

Never let a crisis go to waste. This scenario is the opportunity he’s been waiting for to ‘pull the trigger’. Good post.

“Cut spending NOW! Who gives a rats ass about spending cuts down the road. The dems want a trillion $ debt limit increase. Fine - cut $1 trillion in spending in the next 12 months. All these backloaded bull$#!+ cuts will never happen....red”

EXACTLY. And they all think we’re morons and can’t see that. I’m sick of the whole bunch of spineless losers (on OUR side!!!!) in Washington :-(

Mrs. Bachmann never met something she can say, “Yes,” to and has no plan of her own.

Your “real man” would still have only HALF of congress, and NO SENATE, AND NO PRESIDENCY.

short of trashing out the constitution, your ‘real man” would be in the SAME place as Boehner.

We can twist and shout all we want, but reality says we don’t have the Power.

I will do anything I can to replace any congress-critter that voted for any plan that raises the debt ceiling one red cent.

“22 billion to cut in 2012 and $42 billion in 2013”

In Washington parlance “cuts” are merely decreases in the rate of increase. The spending continues apace.

‘Can’t the Conservative House Republicans force Boehner out of his speaker ship?’

That’s a great question.

Sorry if I don’t believe those who tell us that the House must write the bill the dems want. That’s nonsense. The country cannot survive more of this kind of ‘compromise’.

You’re a perfect example of what I mean!

Why would anyone WANT this to happen? Its one thing to be as prepared as you possibly can for the worst-case scenario, but some people here seem to actually be egging it on!

You call 2% of the total in the first year, and 4% in the second year “front loaded”?!

They'll call it a ham sandwich if they think that might provide political cover.

“... we will avert the bond Market crisis, rising interest rates...”

What do you think a credit downgrade does to interest rates?...
