WASHINGTON (AP) -- Touting a record that could complicate his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman challenged his party Thursday to protect the environment and acknowledge climate change as a real threat.
Huntsman, who is trailing in the polls but is working to build a campaign that could deny front-runner Mitt Romney the nod, criticized those who question the science behind climate change and loathe government's role in fighting it.

And conservatives are smart enough to know what true conservation is without Obama’s former Ambassador telling us.
Good thinking Jon. Ignore the budget crisis and stay focused on the environment. That will win you a lot of votes in Republican primaries.
Being close to the land is what creates a real sense of conservation. The environmental industry courts the urban and those who are not close to the land with a fake type of conservation. But too many conservatives are also urban and have lost connection to the land and oppose all forms of conservation just as a knee-jerk reaction to the environmental industry.

Real threat or not, man does not have a measurable impact on climate change. That Huntsman either doesn’t know or won’t admit this makes him an imbecile.
A Huntsman candidacy will make the GOP an extinct species for the Darwin award of the century.

Somebody from Utah told me Huntsman got involved in the primaries to be a thorn in Romney’s side. He’s still bitter that he wasn’t the choice to be the CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
