Correct me if I’m wrong, but since when did the power of the Presidency reach to making deals with car companies?
I thought CONGRESSS made laws!

President announces deal to boost fuel economy
President announces deal to further destroy the economy. He's got a place waiting for him on the trash heap of history. He can't get there too soon.

I'll bet meeting this new standard will add more than $8,000 to the cost of a vehicle.Or they'll do it without tech, and just sell you an Escort and charge you for the Expedition anyway (which amounts to the same thing on your end).

"Just as cars will go further on a gallon of gas, our economy will go further [sic] on a barrel of oil," Obama said. What he really means is that he hopes our economy will go farther on a barrel of BULLSHIT.

Second, they do not tell you that it will add $10,000 to the price of an automobile. So, you will save money at the pump, but lose money overall because it is more than offset by an increase in the price of the vehicle!Sounds like when they're trying to sell you those new shitty washers.
"Oh, it'll save you hundreds on water over the next 10 years if you pay us an extra thousand now, plus live with a badly designed machine that costs $$$$$ to fix."

So, in reality, you will pay an extra $940 minimum, for the privilege of getting better gas mileage. That's BEFORE you allow for having to live with whatever design compromise they made to get there. The car will be lighter or more complicated, or have less ACTUAL useful features like AC, or some combination.

Not true. There will simply be more cars on the road to offset the savings.
