NATO says its warplanes have bombed Libyan state TV satellite transmitters because they were being used to incite violence and threaten civilians.

A statement says the strike early Saturday "will reduce the regime's ability to oppress civilians, while (preserving) television broadcast infrastructure that will be needed after the conflict." NATO said Moammar Gadhafi's inflammatory broadcasts have been designed to mobilize his supporters.

The attempt to silence the government's TV broadcasts comes at a sensitive time for Libya's rebels, who appear to be in disarray after the death of their chief military commander.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the initial mission of Nato to simply enforce a no fly zone? To me that means to patrol the air space and keep Libyan war planes from leaving the ground, not bombing random targets willy nilly across Libya.

“NATO bombs Libyan TV transmitters”
Oh, that should go over real well with the citizens.

Let Libya take care of its own problems.

Yup, that's what it is (according to Obama).

Russia has been begging to differ. China too.

yep. the U.N. wanted to protect the citizens from the powerful Libyan A.F.

by bombing the xxxx out of Libya, dropping 2000+ smart bombs alone, plus cruise missiles, and helicopter gunships in direct support of Islamist and Al-Queda “rebels”.
christian churches, civilian residences, and schools have been bombed (all reported here, by the BBC, etc.)

NATO has ADMITTED they have killed CHILDREN !!!

... and this, makes NATO a LAUGHINGSTOCK.
bombs to stop Qaddafi from speaking ?!?

If this was happening under Bush the streets of America would be filled with the protesters carrying “Impeach War Monger Bush”.

That’s not disarray. That’s consolidation. The slain commander was a rival to Khalifa Hifter, our own CIA man we placed in the rebel council.

“Libyan rebel leader spent much of past 20 years in suburban Virginia”

“Suburban Virginia” refers to Vienna, Va. That’s five miles down the road from Langley.

A 2001 book, Manipulations africaines, published by Le Monde diplomatique, traces the CIA connection to 1987, reporting that Hifter, then a colonel in Gaddafi’s army, was captured fighting in Chad in a Libyan-backed rebellion against the US-backed government of Hissène Habré. He defected to the Libyan National Salvation Front (LNSF), the principal anti-Gaddafi group, which had the backing of the American CIA.

He organized his own militia, which operated in Chad until Habré was overthrown by a French-supported rival, Idriss Déby, in 1990.According to this book, “the Haftar force, created and financed by the CIA in Chad, vanished into thin air with the help of the CIA shortly after the government was overthrown by Idriss Déby.”

The book also cites a Congressional Research Service report of December 19, 1996 that the US government was providing financial and military aid to the LNSF and that a number of LNSF members were relocated to the United States.

Yes, right there on line 47 of the bogus Nato order, of the illegal war, it says kill all flying tv transmitters. Mean while Syria keeps on killing the hell out of its people, Nato yawns.
